If you're a fan of The Big Bang Theory television show, you may find it hard to believe that they first aired in 2007! Over the years, we grew up with these characters and watched more than 250 episodes of the series, rounding it off to 11 years. To recap, the show is about four physicists, and on September 24, 2018, their first episode of the final 12th season was released. So let's get straight into it!

1. The beginning of a long friendship

The series is said to come to an end in March 2019, but the spin-off, delving into Sheldon's childhood, is making the fans want more, and the 2nd season came out this year. We have collected well-known facts about this popular and loved TV show for your enjoyment.

2. Vanity cards

Chuck Lorry puts out so-called "vanity cards" at the end of each episode. In each card, he shares his thoughts, jokes and even directly addresses the audience. In the 18th series of the 10th season, released on March 9, 2017, he offered fans of the series a chance to perform with him while singing  famous Russian song "Moscow Nights."( Here are the English lyrics if you'd like to get an idea.)

3. Sheldon's mom

Laurie Metcalfe, who plays the role of Sheldon’s mom, and is well-known in the television world, is the mother of actress Zoi Perry. She acts as the mother of young Sheldon in the spin-off of Sheldon’s Childhood series. Jim Parsons knows how to play the Theremin, which is one of Sheldon's favorite musical instruments.

4. Musical instruments

This may come as a surprise to fans, but since this instrument was created in 1920 by the Soviet Inventor, Lev Termen, it is considered to be one of the most difficult musical instruments to master. Johnny Galecki can play the cello, Mayim Bialik plays the harp, and Simon Helberg plays the piano. A fan theory has popped up about Sheldon's T-shirt colors and what they may represent.

5. Talented cast

According to fans, they could be Sheldon showing emotion: red is anger, purple is love and passion, green is calm and self-confidence, yellow is fear, blue is pity or hope, and orange is greed. What do you think they symbolize?

6. Soft Kitty lullaby

Remember that famous lullaby, "Soft Kitty"? We do because Sheldon loves it when it comes to bedtime. This song was written by Edith Newlin, a teacher from Australia in the 1930s. The creators were sued for using the song illegally in the series, but thanks to the daughter of producer, Bill Prady, who heard a lullaby from her kindergarten teacher, they soon sorted things out.

7. The missing glass

Have you ever noticed that Leonards glasses have no lenses? According to the actor, Johnny Galecki, he had to look up at Jim Parsons everytime they engaged because of their height differences, and the spotlights kept reflecting in the glass, creating a glare. So he decided to use the frame instead, and who would have noticed?

8. Penny's accessories

When it comes to accessory changes, Penny appears with the same brown handbag. This bag looks identical in each episode she wears it, and it's made from brown leather with an identical shape. If you're good at spotting continuity errors in shows, keep an eye out for any changes in props.

9. Honoring actors

In honor of the actor, Sheldon Leonard, the two characters in the show, Sheldon and Leonard were both named after him. In the original version of the pilot, Volovista and Kutrappali were absent, and other actresses performed the roles of Penny and Leslie Winkle. Those names are tough to pronounce, so we are glad they changed the character's names at least. Moreover, in the not-shown "pilot" Penny was called Katie.

10. Sheldon loves The Flash

Now, let's take another look at Sheldon's T-shirt collection. While all of them have images on them, his most beloved ones are the superheroes, and he is a fan of The Flash. Another character he loves, is Tsisko Ramon, from the super-fast man series, which he wears as a reference to The Big Bang Theory. Take a look, and maybe you'll see it.

11. Set dressing and background

When you pay attention to props and sets that are built for the show, you'll notice that the house where Sheldon and Leonard live in, only have one flight of stairs, and one playground. Every time the characters rise to their floor, the crew members change the appearance of the doors. Have you ever noticed that?

12. Apartment locations

Funny how we are so drawn into the scenes and characters, that we don't pay much attention to their surroundings. For example, you will never see Raja’s apartment or Howard’s and Bernadette’s houses in the same series. This is for the simple reason that they are using the same home, or location, or set-dressing for that episode. So they use one room and re-decorate each time. That's a lot of work, but worth it in the end, and the fans never notice.

13. Scientific facts

These directors and producers have done their homework because all the names of all series of the sitcom are names scientific principles that exist. All the theories and experiments are based on facts, so these characters don't only appear to be intelligent, they are educating the audience as well. This is what you call "fun while learning."

14. The Pilot

The pilot episode was just called, "The Pilot," and initially, the series was set to be called, "Penny, Lenny, and Kenny." Aren't you glad they changed that? We sure are, because it didn't sound right and the new title has a "ring" to it. At that time, Leonard and Penny were in a relationship, and thankfully, this name change did them justice.

15. Penny gives us a hint

The pilot series took us in the 100th episode of the show called, “Theory of Recombination,” when Penny agrees to go on a date with her future husband. If you've seen it, you'll know that she is wearing the same T-shirt.
