The Truth of Kardashians' Hard Childhood
Although we probably know a lot of stages in the Kardashians' lives, there is a very controversial episode that is riddled with emotional struggles and conflicts during their early years. Perhaps, all those issues are buried in the past, but they must have marked the personalities of each one of them.
If you want to discover the intriguing and heartbreaking details of these famous sisters' childhood, this is your lucky day because that is precisely what we bring to you in the article below. We are sure you will see them in an entirely different way after reading it.
Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian
Since Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the American reality TV show on E! cable network, was premiered back in 2007, the famous family has been in the spotlight, and all their ups and downs have been evident to everyone. However, they have managed to stick together through thick and thin, and that is something worth admiring.
But before fame, not everything was glamorous and perfect as it now seems, and it all started when Kris got married to lawyer Robert Kardashian, who was renowned later for representing O.J Simpson legally. When they began dating, Jenner was only a seventeen-year-old.
On July 8, 1978, the lovebirds tied the knot when she was 22 years old. Robert did not want to wait too long to have children, but the American personality did not want to have children so soon and started to feel uncomfortable with her role as a mother.
She did not have time to enjoy life before becoming a mother, and that was something that she kept on blaming Robert for. After giving birth to the children, the Californian girl started to act rebelliously. That was when Kardashian decided to hire babysitters to please his wife.
Her mother had always instilled her to find a rich man whom she could marry and solve all her financial problems. She came from an economically disadvantaged family; thus, she had to work from a very early age to cover her expenses.
Perhaps, that is why when she met Robert, the businesswoman left her current boyfriend at that time, a professional golf player, to start dating the wealthy young man. He, unlike Kriss, came from a well-off family that had built his fortune out of a meat packaging company.
However, Robert decided not to take over the family business despite his privileged conditions, and instead, focused on his career in law. And he had a successful journey as a lawyer because, at the age of 20, he was able to buy his first Rolls Royce.
Bringing children up
What they did have in common was an upbringing style based on hard work and success. For that reason, they encouraged their kids to work since they were teenagers to learn the value of money. But the most significant blow for their childhood was when their parents decided to get divorced.
After thirteen years of marriage, the couple parted ways in March 1991 but remained close friends. Nevertheless, the bond between the children and their father was powerful, so it was natural for them to find ways of protesting for the tough decision. For instance, Kourtney, the oldest one, decided to wear only black color for five years.
A new love
What was even worse for the kids, their mother found a replacement for their dad very soon, only a year after her divorce from Kardashian. Jenner wedded her second spouse, retired Olympian Bruce Jenner. Naturally, it was not easy for the three girls and Bob to accept that there was a new man in their mom's life.
Losing a loved one
And if divorce and a new dad was not enough, everything crumbled for these kids when they found out that their dad had passed away after losing the battle against esophageal cancer. He had been diagnosed with the illness in July 2003 and lost his life at the age of 59 less than eight weeks after the prognosis.
Again, the whole situation was too difficult to bear for Kourtney, who started giving her new stepfather a hard time. But eventually, she realized his good intentions for the well-being of the family. Khloe, on her side, also struggled with her father's loss and did not know how to handle stress and resorted to food.
As a consequence, she started to lose her hair and gain a considerable amount of weight. Maybe, that is why she was considered the ugly duckling of the three sisters. Even in her reality show, she has talked about her self-esteem problems, and how hard it was for her to see that her sisters were thinner than her.
She even faced bullying not only from her classmates but also from her teachers who used to refer to her as the girl with overweight. As for Kim, her childhood was stricter than her sisters'. Her mom was more demanding on her because she wanted Kim to become her successor.
Thus, after Kim finished her studies at Marymount High School, a Roman Catholic all-girls school in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, she decided not to continue with her higher education and wanted to try her luck as a celeb stylist, interest that she had shown since she was at school.
Luckily for her, it was not hard at all for her to make her dream come true thanks to all her rich and famous classmates, including the heiress of the Hilton empire, Paris, who helped her reach the top position Kim currently enjoys.
And the stepsisters?
Jenner had two daughters with Bruce: Kendall (born 1995) and Kylie (born 1997). If you thought that things were more manageable for the youngest girls in the family, maybe you have not considered all the constraints and pressures that one has when your life is currently in the spotlight.
Not to go too far, Kendall today is one of the most wanted models in the runways of high fashion designers, but during her school years, she also lacked self-esteem, mainly because of her obvious acne problems. Kylie, on the other hand, did not have to deal with the school environment.
With the popularity of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she did not have time to go to school and ended up being educated at home. However, that had a negative connotation because she was the first one to notice something fishy in her father's attitude. Little did she know what they would face later on.
A shocking transition
During a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015, Bruce came out as a trans woman, explaining he had been dealing with gender dysphoria even before marrying Kris. Now, how would you feel as a child if your father told you he is not a man any longer?
After years of hormone replacement therapy, many cosmetic surgeries, and a sex reassignment procedure, Bruce Jenner became the Caitlyn Jenner we all know today. Her name and gender change became official on September 25, 2015. Now Kendall and Kylie have two mothers.
As we could see from all these shocking details, early life was not easy for any of the Kardashians. However, perhaps those blows and hard times during their childhood and adolescence made them the famous and rich women that they are today. Share their story so that others can read about it too. Until next time!
