The Royals Who Are Actually Much Poorer That Most Of Us Would Imagine
Would you believe if we told you that there are a couple of members in the most important British blue-blood family that are poorer than what you think? Of course, it is a little bit controversial to use that term to describe a royal but think of it as a relative term because they are not like us. From a wanna-be model to a freelance writer, there is everything in this family, and we will take a carriage ride in the life of these lesser-known members.
1. Lady Amelia Windsor
Amelia Sophia Theodora Mary Margaret Windsor is the third child of George Windsor, Earl of St. Andrews, and his wife, Sylvana Tomaselli. George Windsor's father, Prince Edward, is Queen Elizabeth II's cousin. Amelia is currently the 38th in the line of succession to the throne.
After graduating from St. Mary's School, a Catholic boarding school in Ascot, she spent a gap year in India and Thailand, where she furthered her knowledge in the field she loves the most: fashion. The royal once told Tatler magazine that she wanted to learn all the aspects of a fashion house.
And now, the gorgeous girl reportedly wants to start her professional journey as a journalist. Despite her other goals, she has had a successful career in the modeling industry with her angelic face and stunning body. In fact, according to Tatler magazine, she is the most beautiful royal.
She worked as a model for the mentioned magazine when she was the cover girl in 2016, as well as for Elle in Spanish and Vogue Japan. In February 2017, she walked in Dolce & Gabbana spring collection for the Fashion Week in Milan. Nowadays, Lady Amelia is signed with Storm Model Management.
2. Lord Frederick Windsor
His close friends call him Freddie, and this royal is the only son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the 47th in line to the throne. Eighteen years ago, he was known as a party animal with a junkie reputation who reportedly had a celebration when the family and the country were mourning the loss of the Queen Mother.
However, his life started to get on the right track when he began to work in London as a Chartered Financial Analyst at the investment bank JPMorgan back in September 2006. He also tried his luck in the fashion industry when he modeled briefly for a Blueberry campaign.
He also had a job as a music journalist for Tatler magazine. The lord also turned his love life around when he proposed to actress Sophie Winkleman on the St. Valentine's Day of 2009. A couple of months later, the couple tied the knot following the Queen's consent. The lovebirds now have two daughters.
3. Lady Gabriella Windsor
Following with the same family, we have Freddie's sister and the only daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Apparently, partying runs in this family because this lady was also involved in some fuss back in May when journalist Aatish Taseer, whom she dated for three years since 2000, wrote an article about her.
Taseer explained his romance with Gabriella in the very controversial article for Vanity Fair indicating that they swam naked in the Queen's pool in Buckingham Palace and had MDMA in Windsor castle. Despite her turbulent past, she announced her engagement to financier Thomas Kingston last August.
They will wed during the spring of 2019. Gabriella is a freelance writer who contributes to The London Magazine, as well as The Sunday Telegraph, the Spectator, Country Life, and Hello magazine. She is also a Senior Director for Branding Latin America, a brand positioning platform.
4. Lady Rose Gilman
Lady Rose Victoria Birgitte Louise Gilman is the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and used to be the 12th in line to the throne. However, as of June 2018, she is currently in the 33rd place due to a stream of royal babies.
She dabbled in the film industry in 2005 as an art department assistant under the name Rose Windsor with the TV series Little Britain, and then in 2007 with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A year later, she worked as an assistant set dresser on Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Finchley.
5. Meghan Markle
We had to include her here, although her net worth will doubtless change shortly due to her recent marriage. However, when she was only an American actress, Meghan's net worth was just $5 million, so her TV career did not exactly rake in the big bucks.
However, the former Suits star could cause headaches to the British royal family, according to the Washington Post. The United States' Internal Revenue Service establishes that American citizens are subject to U.S tax obligations despite their country of residence.
Thus, her dual nationality could expose the royal finances to international scrutiny. Having assets of more than $300,00 during a tax year, the Duchess would have to reveal the details of that wealth, including foreign trust, in a document called Form 8938.
6. Zara Tindall
The eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II is the daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, who has the 17th place in the line of succession. She became worldwide known after she won the 2006 Eventing World Championship in Aachen as an equestrian.
She participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal, presented by her mother, for the Great Britain Eventing Team, becoming the first royal to be on the Olympic podium. In 2006, the British viewing public voted her as BBC Sports Personality of the Year, so this girl is really into horses.
7. Peter Phillips
This boy, apart from handsome, is the eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II, who once was in the fifth place in the succession line. Now, the only son of Anne, Princess Royal, and Captain Mark Phillips is in the fourteenth place. He has been married to Autumn Kelly since 2008.
Following his graduation from the University of Exeter in 2000 with a degree in sports science, this royal has held positions in Jaguar and Williams F1, and for several years, Peter has worked in the sports sponsorship and management fields.
Once the Queen's favorite grandson, Phillips was responsible for organizing the "Patron's Lunch", which was a 2016 celebration for the Queen's 90th birthday and her patronage of over 600 charities and organizations in the UK. It involved a parade and a hamper picnic for 10,000 guests.
Compared to other prominent royals such as Prince Charles and his sons, Prince Philip, or the Queen herself, these royals on our list have a long way to be as wealthy as they are, and that is why they could be considered more impoverished. However, many of us would still love to be as "penniless" as they are, right?
