Duchess Camilla takes to the dance floor, and royal fans can’t resist her fascinating moves
The Duchess of Cornwall, along with her husband, recently proved that age is just number while visiting Ghana. The couple decided to scorch the floorboards with their moves on the last night in Ghana. The Royals will be touring the region for several days, visiting The Gambia, Ghana and finally, Nigeria, in a crucial time for Prince Charles life.
The Prince of Wales was voted as the successor of Queen Elizabeth II as Head of the Commonwealth in April, and many more responsibilities are coming his way. However, that does not mean that he and his wife cannot get down and boogie with the local people. We all need to let our hair down every once in a while, after all.
GETTING JIGGY WITH IT
Prince Charles and Camilla are going out of Ghana with a bang. On their last night in the country, they took to the dance floor and boogied down. The official Clarence House Twitter account posted the video on Monday. The Duchess of Cornwall was the most impressive with her on-rhythm swaying and upbeat pace.
Fans commented on just how much the Duchess of Cornwall was feeling the groove. She and Charles were at a state dinner where they danced with the President and the First Lady of Ghana, according to Hello Magazine. The Prince of Wales accompanied Rebecca Akufo-Addo on the floor, while Camilla danced away with Nana Akugo-Addo.
Charles and Camilla are almost finished with the nine-day West African tour. They headed to Nigeria the day after their musical night. They have already visited The Gambia. Earlier this month, Charles showed off his dance moves again in Ghana. He grooved outside the Osu Castle with dancers dressed in traditional wear.
It appears the two love dancing. Camilla also has a short history in ballet. At the time, Camilla declared that she wanted "to be a silver swan." The dancing also meant to help her with her core strength, mobility, posture, and coordination. The 71-year-old also continues to show a rational sense of fashion. Instead of wearing new outfits for every occasion, she re-wears her gorgeous dresses.
In Kumasi, Ghana, Camilla opted to recycle the green floral dress that she has been seen in at least twice before. Once was way back in 2011. Last week, she wore the dress during a welcoming ceremony at the Manhiya Palace. King Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II was present, as well as Prince Charles and several religious leaders.
WILL CHARLES BECOME KING SOON?
This West African tour comes in a crucial time for the Prince of Wales, as it has been alleged that Queen will be handing her power to her firstborn soon. Charles celebrated his 70th birthday last Wednesday, and that means that he's the eldest heir to the throne in history. Queen Elizabeth II is currently 92 years old, and it seems she will be stepping down.
Royal correspondent Robert Jobson released a new book which states that the longest-reigning monarch is planning to give the throne to her son when she turns 95. Although that is still three years away, many of us have never seen a coronation before, so it will probably be the event of a lifetime, and Prince Charles is next in line.
However, Clarence House, representatives of the Prince of Wales, has not released a statement about those declarations from Jobson. However, royal fans recently got a glimpse of Charles as a devoted father and grandfather when the new documentary Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70 was released last week. His image is currently at an all-time high.
According to the Duchess of Cornwall, “He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know making funny noises and laughing and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him. He reads Harry Potter, and he can do all the different voices, and I think children really appreciate that.”
Additionally, Prince Charles was recently featured on the cover of GQ magazine for the month of October, and he talked about the fight for the environment with an unmasked vigor. He has taken several official duties in the Queen’s stead like a trip to Australia in April and this tour of West Africa, so it would be the perfect time to crown a new monarch.
However, after the book by Jobson came out, rumors starting flying about the abdication, but according to a source from the royal family, there is not much truth to it. This friend told Vanity Fair that the Queen would never abdicate because that is what she said after Pope Benedict XVI’s resigned in 2013, though we think that is not the same situation.
THE REAL REASON SHE WON'T ABDICATE
No one would blame the monarch from stepping from the throne because she has ruled long enough and has sufficient heirs to take on the role. She has done her job in a beautiful manner, and most would think of it as retiring instead of abdicating. But the Queen will not step down because, on her 21st birthday, she promised she wouldn’t.
During a speech on broadcast radio on April 21, 1947, the Queen professed: “I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.” Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also corroborated the statements saying that Elizabeth would never quit.
“It is important to emphasize the Queen will never abdicate. Gradually we would expect the Queen to scale down her duties but never to abdicate as she believes in total dedication to duty and in the oath she took to serve her whole life when she was 21. Nor has the example of her uncle been forgotten.”
It is clear that we will have Queen Elizabeth for the rest of her life, and Prince Charles will continue to take on her duties as he does right now.
