There Are Bigger Threats For The Avengers Than Thanos In The Upcoming Movie

The last Avengers film made fans believe that Thanos would be virtually invincible once he obtained the Infinity Stones because our heroes could not defeat him despite joining together for the common cause. However, there are new theories that suggest that the Mad Titan is not the most dangerous threat for the Avengers, so let’s take a look at this.

The build-up of Thanos

For years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had teased us with the short appearances of Thanos, and how he would be the mightiest villain for our favorite superheroes, and Infinity War proved that he was incredible as he got all the stones almost by himself, and defeated the most exceptional people in this storyline, wiping out half the universe.

We all cried horribly when our idols started disintegrating into dust, but we also have to acknowledge that they put up quite a fight against the Mad Titan and his Black Order. Although they lose in the end, it was still awesome to see the Avengers fighting alongside Black Panther in Wakanda and with the help of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Which villain could it be?

We do not know a lot about the next Avengers movie, but we hope that they can take back what Thanos did, saving the vanished people, though it seems pretty hard at this point since so many outstanding players are gone now. Luckily, the remaining heroes are the original Avengers, and we know that Hawkeye is going to appear too.

There is some speculation that a new supervillain might appear in the next movie. Yes, Thanos did commit incredibly war crimes with the excuse of a higher purpose, but we cannot say that he is the best evil guy in the Marvel Universe. The studio has not released much information because they love creating suspense when it comes to their next project.

However, there have been bits and pieces about the upcoming story thrown by the creators because whetting the fans appetites is the best way to keep them excited about the franchise and collect all that money from moviegoers. Marvel is releasing a new toy that most fans are going to rush to buy, and it has to do with the friendship we saw develop in Infinity War.

If you remember correctly, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Thor team up for the trip to Nidavellir, where the God of Thunder got Eitri to make Stormbreaker because Mjolnir was destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Well, this new toy features Thor and Rocket in white suits, and the box has a message that is clearly a clue:

“The Asgardian Thor wields the mighty Stormbreaker in his battle against new foes. Rocket teams up with a new crew to guard the galaxy from an even greater threat.”

The question here is: who are these “new foes” and could they be stronger than the Mad Titan? They would have to be even better than him to scare our mighty Avengers into battle because they just saw all their worst fears realized after losing some of the most important people in their lives. Furthermore, for some reason, Thanos did not look that pleased about completing his mission.

In the movies, he wanted to vanish half of the universe because there are finite resources so people on his planet, Titan, were dying of hunger. However, we know that that is not his justification in the comic books, where he wanted to become a powerful man, killing all those beings to impress Death. In the end, we don’t see him with Death but rather contemplating what he just did.

We also saw the Infinity Gauntlet get burnt up, so the Mad Titan is at a low point, which means it’s also the perfect time to introduce new villains to remember our heroes that their mission is to keep protecting everyone. After all, we are getting a new hero, Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, and her movie will be out before Avengers 4.

New hero

Of course, the events of Captain Marvel will take place long before this war, but there is clearly a meaningful connection, suggesting that she will be the key to defeating Thanos. In the post-credits scene, we saw Nick Fury and Maria Hill looking at the vanishing people, and Fury paged someone right before he disappeared himself. In the pager, we saw her logo.

She is going to rock the MCU world as she is the first female superhero to have a solo movie, but the character might also be bringing with her a new set of villains that could overshadow the Mad Titan in the end. Fans of the comic books know about the Kree-Skrull war, as the original Captain Marvel was a Kree and Ronan the Accuser was also a member of this race.

The possible new villains

This comic book has always been pretty famous, and it consisted of a moment when the Krees fought with the Skrulls, a race of shape-shifting aliens. We have seen the Skrulls in many Marvel comics as they have always wanted to invade and conquer Earth. Captain Marvel is going to feature a lot about this storyline, such as the villains.

So, we have shape-shifting aliens and their leader, Talos, who has been working undercover for S.H.I.E.L.D. We can only hope that Captain Marvel defeats this evil man, but we could be seeing him and his followers in Avengers 4, after all, Thanos did not focus his snap on earthlings, but on the whole universe, so other beings might be looking for revenge.

It would actually make sense for the Skrulls to try to vanquish Earth at this point when the Avengers are at their most vulnerable. Other theories suggest that Galactus, a huge villain in the Marvel Universe, could appear in the final Avengers movie. This character plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of the universe.

Presenting him at this moment would give audiences the perfect twist they crave, and by the start of the new phase in the MCU. On another note, a favorite villain from the comic books that has not made it into the MCU is Victor Von Doom. We have seen him going against the Fantastic Four for many years, but he did face the Avengers at some point.

It could be time to see him up against the remaining team, but there is a reason for his absence from the MCU, and you can probably guess it. Yes, his character belonged to 20th Century Fox, but with the upcoming merger between it and Disney, all kinds of possibilities have opened up. Seeing Doctor Doom contrasted against Thanos would be pretty exciting.

Another enemy could be Kang the Conqueror, a character that was also owned by Fox, and in the comic books, he is one of the worst enemies of the Avengers, so finally seeing him on the big screen would be awesome. His powers would actually compliment the storyline perfectly if we assume that our heroes will travel in time in order to fix things.

Kang knows all about time travel. He was once an ordinary man named Nathaniel Richards, who used time-traveling technology invented by Dr. Doom to change the course of history and have himself known as Kang the Conqueror. He has no superpowers aside from his intelligence and the use of modern tech, which honestly reminds us of Iron Man.

He has a Time ship where he accessed the material necessary to move through time, and this could be the perfect tool for the Avengers since they do not have the Time Stone. Meanwhile, another old enemy that could come into play in the final Avengers movie because of their ties to Thanos: Lady Death.

We already mentioned that he was in love with her and that is why he collected the stones. It’s a bit odd that the MCU decided not to include her in Infinity War since she is such an important person to the Mad Titan. She could be making an entrance after the events of the war, where souls disappeared in a matter of seconds.

Sadly, it’s unlikely that she will appear because the movies have not mentioned her at all, and if she does, she would not come to play at Thanos’ love interest because that would just be ridiculous at this point. Finally, some people believe that adding a new villain in this world is too much right now, so someone we have already seen could come into play again.

We saw Red Skull in Infinity War, as he was doomed to guide people looking for the Soul Stone. So, it is a possibility that he could have a bigger part in the upcoming movie. In fact, Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, the writers, revealed that they love this character, and fans do as well, and they also said that his story is not over in the MCU.

Who do you think would be the best villain to appear in the MCU after Thanos? Do any of these options seem possible? It will be hard to top Infinity War, but we are sure that Marvel Studios can do it. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who enjoy villains more the superheroes. See you next time!
