Prince Charles Turns 70, And This Time Photos Had A New Exciting Addition
Celebrating another year of life is a momentous date for everybody, mainly when you are about to become a king. So when Prince Charles wanted to commemorate his 70th birthday, he decided to do it in an unusual fashion for the royal family.
Some new photos were released on November 14 on the official social media accounts of the royals, and people went crazy about them. We have all the details about the occasion in the following article. Plus, we will get to see some exciting aspects surrounding the celebration and what the royal lovers thought of the shots. Take a look!
A short bio
Before we get to the beautiful photographs, let's learn some intriguing details of the birthday man's biography. Charles Philip Arthur George was born on November 14, 1948, at Buckingham Palace in London. He was the firstborn of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
Charles is also an heir apparent, which is a person who is first in a line of succession to the throne and can't be removed from inheriting it by the birth of another person. This is in contrast to an heir presumptive, who can be displaced. Therefore, Charles is expected to be King of England any time soon.
Some months after his birth, precisely on December 15, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Geoffrey Fisher, christened Charles in the palace's Music Room. Following the tradition of heir apparent, the young prince received a governess, Catherine Peebles, who was appointed to undertake his education when he was five.
However, in 1955, the Palace announced that Charles would go to school, turning him in the first heir apparent that did not receive his full education from a private tutor. His parents decided to send him to Hill House School in the branch located in West London.
As the eldest child of the monarch, the prince also took other titles automatically: Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay (used when he travels to Scotland), Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Prince and Great Steward of Scotland, and Lord of the Isles.
A man with such biography cannot let his birthday go unnoticed. So he decided to share with the world the happiness he has as the father of two great sons, Princes William and Harry, and the grandfather of three children and one more on the way: Princes George and Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Harry and Meghan' unborn child.
Perhaps that is the reason why they had Getty Images royal photographer, Chris Jackson, take two photos of all of them. According to the Instagram account of Jackson, over the last 15 years, he has traveled all over the world to places like Pakistan, Japan, and Nigeria to photograph the Prince of Wales.
"I was delighted to have been asked to take these official portraits of The Prince surrounded by his family to celebrate the important milestone of his 70th Birthday. It was particularly special to capture such an informal and relaxed family portrait over a fun afternoon."
The two photographs in the gardens of Clarence House were shared on the official Instagram and Twitter accounts of Clarence House, which represent The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. We hadn't seen such wonderful family images in quite some time, so all royal fans were utterly delighted by them.
The first shot
In picture number one, we can see the royal family with typical and formal poses. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla appear on a wooden bench, while the grandfather holds Prince George on his lap, and Princess Charlotte is sitting next to her grandmother.
At the back of the bench, we can see Prince William standing in the middle with his wife, Kate, to his right. She is carrying Louis, who appears cheerfully smiling. To William's left, we have Prince Harry hugging his wife. All the members are dressed in white and blue shades, except Meghan, who donned a black-and-white piece.
The second shot
Picture number two displays a more relaxed and fun family enjoying a candid moment. This one is Jackson's favorite one, as stated in the caption in his Instagram post. Most royals, except William and Charles, seem to be laughing at something off-camera, and they all look lovely.
Camilla points the funny "thing" with one of her fingers while hugging Charlotte. Prince George looks adorable grinning from ear to ear. From the grownups, perhaps the most expressive one was Meghan, who is leaning forward and laughing. We would love to know the motive for such charming reaction!
The last time
It is so delightful to see the family together. The previous occasion for a similar photograph was back on July 9, when the official Instagram account of Kensington Palace shared some photos of Louis' baptism. The posted image was terrific, and it shows the same royal members.
In this opportunity, Matt Holyoak was the one in charge of capturing the family when they were in the Morning Room at Clarence House. In this picture, Prince William and Duchess Kate are the ones sitting with George and Charlotte, whereas Charles, Camilla, Harry, and Meghan stand behind them.
In less than 24 hours, the first photograph received nearly one hundred thousand likes only on Instagram. However, the most popular was the second one with more than 127 thousand in the same period. And that is without counting the hundreds of messages congratulating Charles and commenting on the pictures.
On Twitter, the stir was pretty similar. There were tons of netizens retweeting and commenting on the images, with more than a thousand messages and almost one hundred thousand likes. Among the platform's users, one of the most popular members was undoubtedly Louis.
People praised his lovely smile, saying he was adorable and calling him a "laughing baby". @loveforcambridg said, "gorgeous picture! The kids are adorable like always, and baby Louis is so good to see you. Happy birthday, Prince Charles!," while another stated, " look at George, and Charlotte, and little Louis’ smile."
Did you like the new photographs of the family? Our favorite was the second one, and yours? It is so lovely to see them being a typical family, laughing and having a good time. It reminds us that, although they have blue blood, they are not so different from us in that aspect. Share this article with all your friends who are royal lovers!
