20 Things About Draco Malfoy That Happened After The Battle of Hogwarts

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released more than a decade ago, and we are still wondering what happened to each character after the last page. We saw a glimpse of their future in the final chapter, but that was not enough to quench our thirst, and we are not talking about just the main trio, other characters make us curious too.

In this case, we are talking about our favorite Slytherin, Draco Malfoy, who was Harry arch-nemesis through most of the saga, and his family supported You-Know-Who from the beginning. But, there was a change in his character in Deathly Hallows, and it seemed like Harry, and he reached a truce. Keep on reading to find the 20 things he did after the Battle of Hogwarts.

1. Changed his opinion

Throughout most of the saga, we saw many instances of Draco’s malice, or better yet, his prejudice against certain people in the wizarding calling. He often called Hermione a mudblood and belittled Ron for coming from a poor family. However, we realized later that his beliefs came directly from his parents, and the Battle of Hogwarts changed him for the better.

2. Wedding

Malfoy married a witch from an important family in the wizarding community, a woman named Astoria Greengrass. She was a first year when Draco was a third year, but her sister, Daphne, studied with him and was in Slytherin too. You probably remember seeing her along with Malfoy saying goodbye to her kid on King’s Cross.

3. Seeking approval

We knew that he only wanted the approval of his parents, but that changed after he married Astoria. She did come from a family of purebloods but had moved on from those beliefs, and the Malfoys hated her for that, not wanting their son with someone who did not believe that muggles were inferior to wizards. Draco had to choose, and he decided on his wife.

4. His son

We saw Draco and Astoria’s son, Scorpius, at King’s Cross at the end of the final movie. Astoria was good, but her family had been cursed long ago, meaning that she would not live long, and she did not want Draco to be alone when she was gone, so she gave him a son. Before Scorpius, Malfoy was not sure about being a father as he did not want his bloodline to continue. Astoria convinced him.

5. Losing Astoria

She was already weak due to the curse on her family, and after a troubled pregnancy, her situation became direr. The couple decided to withdraw from the outside world, something that raised eyebrows on outsiders. They raised Scorpius with their new values about muggles, and Astoria died when Scorpius started the third year at Hogwarts making Draco a single father.

6. Good heart

Fans like to romanticize the idea of Draco becoming friends with Harry at the beginning of the story, but despite how he changed his views in the end, got married, and had a kid, he was no saint. J.K. Rowling even gets confused by this notion. However, as fans, we can agree that if he hadn’t been raised in that household, maybe he would have been different.

7. Contempt

The author said that was another reason that Harry and he would never become friends in the first place. He was not nice, and he wanted to exploit Harry’s fame in the beginning. But, he truly hated Potter because the Boy-Who-Lived did not fall for his words and rejected the idea of being friends with him. A rich kid like him does not like the word no.

8. Gossip

After losing the love of his life and becoming a single father, it is easy to feel sorry for him. However, he was hounded by gossip about their lives when they went into seclusion after Astoria’s sickness worsened. The rumors stated that they could not have a baby, so they used the Time-Turner, and Astoria was impregnated by Voldemort.

9. The Time-Turner

Not many people have access to Time-Turners because the Ministry of Magic guards them, and it is a serious deal to handle time. However, the Malfoys have a secret Time-Turner, but Draco never used it to see his wife again or possibly save her. A decision which proved how much he matured over the years because back in his school days, he would have done it easily.

10. Cease-fire

We know Harry, and he never become friends, but their antagonism ended after the Battle of Hogwarts. Malfoy envied Potter’s friendship with Ron and Hermione because his own friends, Crabbe and Goyle, were not truly close. It’s great to give up old grudges and move on with your life after growing up and learning.

11. Revelation

We always knew that Draco did not want power as much as Lucius Malfoy, but his parents wanted him to become a Death Eater to rule by following Voldemort. However, the truth is that Draco wanted to become a great Quidditch player, though he was not good enough, so he went to on hoping to find happiness.

12. Dumbledore

His relationship with the Headmaster of Hogwarts was a bit difficult, after all, he was tasked to kill him. His son became close friends with Albus Potter, who supported him after the death of Astoria. The two remained close friends even under weird circumstances, and we think it was awesome.

13. Battling

When it came to wizard duels, Draco was not the best at first, but he was actually very good at many subjects in school. He got better after leaving Hogwarts, to the point where Potter and he dueled at Harry’s home. Harry was Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, but Malfoy was able to defend himself well.

14. Alchemy

No one really knew what Draco liked best during his time at school, but he had to find a profession after the Battle of Hogwarts. We know that the Malfoys had many dark magical objects, but when he gave up his family’s values, he had no use for them. He did take an interest in alchemical documents, though it was a hobby more than anything.

15. Friends

Lucius avoided incarceration by ratting all the other Death Eaters, helping the ministry catch all those who had supported Voldemort at the end. But this meant that the people closest to the Malfoy family were either dead, in Azkaban or hated them. Meanwhile, those whom he had treated with disdain only showed him compassion.

16. Hermione

Draco and Hermione were clearly enemies because of his thoughts on Muggle-borns. Ron hated him so much for it that he told his daughter to avoid Scorpius, but Hermione felt differently. In fact, during the ambush of Delphini at Godric’s Hollow, he commented about feeling weird that Hermione was giving orders. It’s great that they can be lighthearted.

17. Compartmentalization

We saw how Harry had trouble with occlumency, but Draco became very good at it thanks to his aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange. J.K. Rowling said that it was because Malfoy was good at compartmentalizing his life, which explained why he never showed his good side. After the Battle of Hogwarts, he was able to live his life with freedom.

18. Malfoy money

We never exactly knew how Lucious and the Malfoys had so much money. The answer is that it came from his family because he had no job, though he sneered on those who did like Arthur Weasley. The family lived in the Malfoy Manor their whole lives, so he probably occupied his time curating dark magical objects, and looking down at others.

19. Malfoy’s Time Turner

Theodore Nott was employed by Lucius to create a new Time Turner without the limitations of those owned by the Ministry of Magic. However, he never used it as most assumed that he liked not having Voldemort around to bully him. He learned that lesson, so why couldn’t he accept his son’s future wife?

20. Transfiguration

Draco also chose not to work, but he was not without talent. In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he turned Harry into a Voldemort look-a-like so they could trick Delphini. Being able to do that takes a lot of talent and magical prowess.
