All the Ways and Reasons How Captain America May Die in ‘Avengers 4’

Among the many films coming next year, Avengers 4 is definitely one of the top contenders. Fans have been theorizing like crazy for months, building more and more speculation about how the superheroes will overcome Thanos. It is crucial to remember that this movie will mark the end of the MCU’s 3rd phase, so things are going to change drastically.

The two main leaders of the Avengers have been Iron Man and Captain America, and according to the leaked set pictures, it seems that both of them have a big part to play in the next installment, but will they make it out alive? This article explores the possibility of Steve Rogers dying, and maybe the mantle of Captain America will be taken on by someone else.

1. His sad farewell note

Actor Chris Evans took to Twitter to say goodbye to the saga once he finished shooting his scene for the final movie. His contract expires next year, and apparently, the actor is ready to move on to new projects, or perhaps the MCU has other ideas. In any case, his message created a stir in the Marvel fandom.

"Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful."

This tweet shows just how much the MCU meant for Evans, as it basically made his career because most of the actors had acted in previous works before, but were not recognized that much until this franchise started. We don’t know what kind of projects Chris is looking for right now, but we wish him the best in his future endeavors.

2. His role in Infinity War was minor

It was nice to see the rebels from the Avengers back on the team after the events of Civil War, but the truth is that Captain America did not play that big of a part in Infinity War. He and the others help save Vision and Wanda from the Black Order in one of the first scenes in the movie, but that is about as useful as they get.

We later saw him traveling to Wakanda to reunite with the adorable Bucky Barnes, but once the battle started, he was not a major player either. Black Panther took the lead on this one and then Thor, and his quirky team took over. We might conclude that the MCU has something big in store for the character or they were to emphasize the new people.

3. Everything from Captain America: Civil War

The only thing we did not see in Infinity War is the long-awaited reunion between Iron Man and Captain America after their falling out in Civil War, which meant the breakup of the Avengers. According to writer Stephen McFeely, they planned for a reunion between them but, “As many times as we wrote those scenes, it became clear that this movie needed to be propulsive and be about Thanos.”

In our humble opinion, it seems like the MCU is waiting to have that big scene unfold in the next film since it’s going to mean so much for superhero and comic book fans out there. Furthermore, if we are postulating that Captain America will die, having them be friends again and then kill the character off would be perfect for the big screen.

4. Leading up to the final moment

We have watched this character develop for eight years, and the studio might be looking to wrap his story up. The Russo brothers explained that Infinity War would move Steve Roger’s part ahead, but it did not happen which makes us believe that they decided to continue his participation in the next installment, and that might mean, it’s time to end.

The Russo brothers also said, “The next chapter, so to speak, in his specific story. And there's been no talk about where we go beyond that yet.” This comment makes us think that perhaps there is not much else to tell about Steve Rogers, and that is further evidence that his time is over in the MCU. We believe it is the moment to put the 100-year-old hero to rest, so to speak.

5. He does not have to die for Chris Evans to leave

One of the biggest reasons why fans started speculating that Captain America was going to perish was because of his farewell tweet and his expiring contract. However, the truth is that he does not need to die to make a smooth transition into the next phase of the MCU. Technically, it would be more dramatic if he died, but we don’t like that idea.

What Steve has to do is pass on the role of Captain America to another person in that world, something that has happened in the comic books. Fans are taking bets on who might be the right person for the job, and the contenders include Bucky Barnes and the Falcon. Either way, it would be awesome to give Rogers a happy ending instead of more tragedy.

6. A sacrifice needs to be made

Reverting Thanos’ snap is not going to be easy, after all, it takes giving up the soul of someone important to obtain the Soul Stone, and so can you imagine what it takes to brings all those beings that were snuffed out? The comic book showed us one side, but we know that the films never keep entirely faithful to their inspiration.

We can only speculate at the moment, and a fan theory has gained popularity lately, as it explains that Captain America will use the Infinity Gauntlet. However, it won’t be so easy because this theory states that the gauntlet was destroyed after Thanos’ snap, so Steve Rogers could end up using it, but he has to give up his own life.

What did you think of the reasons explained in this list? Do you think Rogers might die in the next movie? We would like to know your opinion, so leave a comment and share this article with your friends who cannot get enough of Marvel theories.
