Disney Top Movies That Are Coming Out In Next 5 Years

While we are patiently waiting for new movie releases, Walt Disney Studios has provided an outline of their movie schedule through till March 2023. Among the list are live-action films, Marvel superheroes, sequels, and many exciting trips to galaxies far away. 

So without keeping you in suspense, let's dive straight into this list! 

Let's begin with 2018

August 3: Christopher Robin. This adorable film is already available for all to see! Christopher Robin as an adult was played by Ewan McGregor and the lovable Pooh Bear was voiced as Jim Cummings. 

November 2, 2018: The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. You'll never guess who the Sugar Plum Fairy will be? If you take a closer look, you'll see Keira Knightley. This is a must-add to your viewing list of this month because it already premiered.

November 21, 2018: Wreck-It Ralph. The sequel will take Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz on an exciting adventure to the internet. If you've never seen the first movie, now is the time to cross off that calendar date. 

December 19, 2018: Mary Poppins. It's been 54 years since the original, and now it's time for the sequel. This time, Emily Blunt is Poppins, and Lin-Manuel Miranda is the lamplighter, Jack. This classic is perfect for the festive season. Can you say "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"?

Moving on to 2019 upcoming release dates

March 8, 2019: Captain Marvel. Finally, we'll get to see a female lead in a superhero film. The movie will take place in the 90s and star Oscar winner, Brie Larson as the character Carol Danvers.  

March 29, 2019: Dumbo. This is going to be a live-action version, directed by the one and only Tim Burton! It will star Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, and Michael Keaton. Sounds exciting!  

April 12, 2019: Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios' chief creative officer John Lasseter announced an untitled Disneytoon Studios film in 2017. We could expect the movie that explores "the future of aviation" that was going to be directed by Klay Hall and Bobs Gannaway in April of next year, but sadly it seems that it was canceled.

April 19, 2019: Penguins. This Disney nature movie will revolve around topics from pandas to chimpanzees. Definitely fun for the kids and a light-hearted film. It will be more of a documentary style. 

May 3, 2019: Avengers. Yes! We finally have an official date for the fourth Avengers movie. An untitled film is set for May 3, 2019. Will the team look the same? We will just have to wait and see. 

May 24, 2019: Aladdin. This will be a live-action movie, and Guy Ritchie will be directing it. It will star the Egyptian-Canadian actor, Mena Massoud, but we are not sure on who the full cast is going to be. 

No specific date: Power Rangers is said to be coming back in 2019 but when they announced that Will Smith will play the Genie, and Naomi Scott, who will work as Princess Jasmine in Aladdin, will return as the Pink Ranger, fans were not happy about her in that role again. 

June 21, 2019: Toy Story 4. Who doesn't love this film! The original director, Lasseter, announced that he won't be directing this sequel, but Josh Cooley will take over the directing duties.  This is one family film to look forward to. 

July 19, 2019: The Lion King. This classic animation will be directed by Jon Favreau. He plans to adapt the movie into a live-action version, and it will star Donald Glover as the voice of Simba, while James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa. 

August 9, 2019: Artemis Fowl. Here is another movie that is going to be a live-action adaptation. It will be directed by Kenneth Branagh, who is known for his work on Cinderella, and Murder on the Orient Express.  

November 22, 2019: Frozen 2. This sequel is expected to be the highest-grossing animated movie of all time. We can expect a return from Elsa and Anna just in time for Thanksgiving. Something the whole family will enjoy. 

December 20, 2019: Star Wars: Episode IX. We finally get to see the new trilogy! Fans, however, will have to wait to see if Will Kylo and Rey battle it out once again on the big screen. So, remember to mark that date on your calendar.

Now, let's take a look at the lineup for 2020

March 27, 2020: Mulan. This is also going to be a live-action release, and the 30-year-old Chinese actress, Liu Yifei will play Hua Mulan. We are not sure about Mulan's love interest or whether dragon Mushu will be in the movie. So, we'll have to wait and see. 

May 29, 2020: Maleficent 2. She's back for the sequel and hopefully not snatching any more babies. Angelina Jolie will return as her wicked self for this movie. Let's hope this adventure will have a happy ending. 

July 24, 2020: Jungle Cruise. Disney is also said to be making a movie based off the ride, Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. If he's in it, be sure for plenty of action-packed scenes and adventure. 

No specific date: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to return, but we don't have a specific date yet. One thing that we are curious about is whether the same crew will be returning to the big screen.  

No specific date: Enchanted is currently being written and we are not sure when the sequel will be released in 2020, but we know that Amy Adams will be starring in the film. So, this is one we'll have to patiently wait for.  

Here is a list of the 2020 Disney movie dates 

Disney live-action movies: February 14, 2020; May 29, 2020 (A "Star Wars" standalone movie. An Obi-Wan Kenobi one is reportedly in the works.). Then we can expect another Disney movie in October 9, 2020 and December 23, 2020. Hopefully, they'll announce the names of these movies that will be released on these dates soon. 

No names as yet, but for the Pixar movies for 2020: We can expect a release on March 6, 2020 but no specific name has been provided yet. So we are super excited as Pixar has the most amazing animation and is fun for the whole family! 

Moving on to the list for 2021

July 9, 2021: Indiana Jones 5 was given a new release date. Hopefully, Harrison Ford will be back to make up for Crystal Skull. We can't imagine this movie without the main star, and definitely looking forward to another adventure with him on the big screen. 

No specific date: The Jungle Book will be returning yet again for a live-action movie with no specific release date. We can expect Mowgli and his friends, Bagheera and Baloo to return to the big screen for more "Bear Necessities". 

No release date: Pinocchio will be a live-action version. It will be directed by Paul King, who made the two popular Paddington movies, which we all loved. The script will be rewritten by Jack Thorne, who's known for the movie, Wonder

A release date is yet to be announced for a live-action prequel for Alladin's Genie. Apparently, this is currently in the works. So, we'll have to wait and see when this adaptation is said to be released for those eager to watch it on the big screen.  

We can expect a remake of 1963s, The Sword in the Stone. This will be written by the Game of Thrones writer/producer, Bryan Cogman. So, we know what to expect with his kinds of movies. Make sure to keep your ears open for the release date on this one. 

Remember those adorable Dalmatian pups? Now, we can expect a prequel in the next years where Emma Stone is said to play a young Cruella de Vil. We wonder if they'll reveal what made her so evil and hateful towards the adorable pups in the first place? 

Disney's classic The Little Mermaid, is going to be remade with new music from the amazing Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Alan Menken. This will be a truly magical movie and we can't wait for the release date on this one. 

We can expect a new live-action movie of Peter Pan, but no release date has been announced yet. Not only will Peter Pan get his remake, it is said that his friend, Tinker Bell, will also be getting her own live-action movie as well. 

Another live-action remake will be Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Reportedly, another film was said to be in the works about Snow White's sister, Rose Red. This won't just be princesses with their own live-action remakes. So, we'll have to wait and see. 

Here is a live-action reboot for the family. James and the Giant Peach. This 1996 animation will be combined with stop-motion animation and the audience is sure in for a treat. There is no set release date, but be sure to keep your ears open for an announcement. 

Do you remember that popular duo Chip ‘n’ Dale? They're actually making a CGI/live-action film based on this animated series. So, it's not only the animation that is getting movie treatment. This is one we have to see! There is no release date yet. 

Another movie that Disney greenlit for one of its darkest characters, the Chernabog, who was the demon from Fantasia. This character is featured in an 11-minute segment called Night on Bald Mountain. There is no release date yet, but we sure are excited to know when they'll announce it!

We can probably expect one of these movies to be released in the next five years. The Last Jedi, which was directed by Rian Johnson, and recently given his own Star Wars trilogy, is expected to make another remake. Another work of Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, who are said to be working on a series of Star Wars movies.

In 2021, the Mouse House has three Marvel movies set for release. We'd be surprised if one of the Marvel movies didn't involve Doctor Strange.

Here is a list of Disney Live Action movie dates for the rest of 2021

This list doesn't have the movie names yet, but we can expect movies from Disney for the following dates, May 28, 2021, July 30, 2021 October 8, 2021 and December 22, 2021. We can't wait to see which movies are coming out! They should be releasing the official names soon.

Here is a list of Marvel movie dates for the rest of 2021

There are no movie names as yet, but Marvel will release their remakes and sequels on February 12, 2021, May 7, 2021, and November 5, 2021. So we're super excited to see which movies they have lined up! Perhaps we'll find out those names soon, so keep up-to-date with us. 

And here's the schedule for 2022 through 2023

We don't know which movies are said to play, but we do have the lineup dates foryou, starting with Marvel movies: February 18, 2022, May 6, 2022 and July 29, 2022.  Then the lineup dates for Pixar movies: March 18, 2022 and June 17, 2022. The Disney Live Action: May 27, 2022. July 8, 2022; October 7, 2022, November 4, 2022, December 16, 2022 and February 17, 2023, and finally, we can expect a Disney Animation on November 23, 2022. 

Wow! That's a huge list that we can prepare for and knowing we have so many amazing movies to look forward to, we can keep those calendars open!
