Top 10 Marvel Villains Who Might And Should Get A Solo Movie Soon
Spider-Man movies had been failing at the hands of Sony Pictures, but this year, they released a solo film based on one of his biggest nemesis, Venom, and it was a massive success despite all expectations. With that in mind, the following article is all about the best villains who should really get their own films, so let’s take a look.
You might be surprised to read that Magneto was supposed to have his own movie, which would have been released some point after X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This film was going to pave the way for several original spin-offs of the heroes and their villains. The second project was going to be Magneto, a villain who started his journey in the concentration camps of the Holocaust.
He ended up being one of the biggest supporters of mutant rights and it would have been a fantastic story to witness, but sadly it never happened. His origin was described in the next trilogy along with the backstory of friend Charles Xavier. In any case, it would have been fantastic to see his solo motion picture in theaters, especially if Michael Fassbender continued to play the role.
Technically, we have seen a lot of Loki in the MCU, in Thor and Avengers, but a movie solely focused on this favorite villain would undoubtedly be a blockbuster. Sadly, it does not look like it’s going to happen, but on the upside, Marvel is indeed not finished with the God of Mischief as Disney will be releasing a series on their new streaming site, Disney+.
We cannot wait to see what happens in the show, and maybe, depending on what happens in Avengers 4, it will lead to a new project with the trickster god. We all love Tom Hiddleston, and by now, it is hard to see Loki as a real villain, especially after Thanos, but having a solo movie based on his origin story or one of his adventures would be incredibly exciting.
3. Sinister Six
Sony Pictures had toyed with the idea of making a Sinister Six movie before, and it was supposed to be part of Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man films featuring Andrew Garfield. They had even placed Rhino and Electro as well as several Easter eggs that alluded to Vulture and Doctor Octopus. However, this never happened, although Marvel fans finally saw Vulture in a movie.
Mysterio is also going to appear, but who knows what’s going to happen. After the success of Venom, perhaps Sony will rethink their original idea, and hopefully, they will learn from the mistakes of Suicide Squad, so that the villains in this project look just as impressive as we have seen in comic books. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for this one.
4. Kang the Conqueror
It would have been amazing seeing this villain battle against the Avengers, but with Avengers 4 wrapping up another face in the MCU, it does not look like it’s going to happen. We did see him in a LEGO game, but that is not enough for us. His film would be fantastic, and this villain could be the next Thanos for the following phase in this franchise.
After all, he has appeared several times throughout the comics, and the remaining heroes could join up again to fight him, as it would take all of them in order to defeat someone like this scoundrel. He might even give Thanos a run for his money, but there are still several other villains that could be included in major motion pictures.
His power alone is fantastic and would be interesting to see how they make him in a movie when he can copy all our favorite superheroes movements. His character has the best charisma and knows it, which gives him an aura of arrogance that people love to hate, so this movie would definitely be a hit if they make it as smartly as they did with Venom.
In the comic books, we even saw Taskmaster request to become part of the Secret Avengers and was used by S.H.I.E.L.D as an undercover double-agent. A movie about this particular scenario would be perfect for rocking the landscape of the MCU, and only a villain such as this one could take on such a task, so all the studios should really consider him.
6. Emma Frost
Fox has actually tried bringing this character to life in their movies, but both times were ridiculous and didn't give her the importance she deserved. In X-Men: First Class, they placed her as part of the Hellfire Club with Sebastian Shaw, but she was just female decoration, to be honest, and don’t even get us started with X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
After the success of Wonder Woman, some studies are actually seeing the merit of having a solo female superhero in the leading role, so maybe it’s also time to have female villains in the spotlight. Either way, they need to give her a story that genuinely lives up to the amazingness of the character and not just as a companion for another male villain.
7. Kraven the Hunter
Sony Pictures is taking full advantage of the success of Venom because they are moving along with plans for Kraven the Hunter, and early rumors are stating that Spider-Man might even make an appearance in this one. However, for Kraven’s Last Hunt, the studio has to plan how they are going to show the character’s origin correctly.
According to reports, Richard Wenk, known for Equalizer, has already written the script of this movie, and they are searching for directors, but Wenk believes that Antoine Fuqua would be perfect for this project as well. What do you think of their choice with Kraven? Is this the villain you wanted to see next on the big screen?
This villain was seen in the first X-men movie played by Tyler Mane, the former wrestler, but he was definitely not as cool as the character in the comic books. Luckily. We saw Live Schreiber as Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and it was one of the only things that fans actually liked about that movie in general.
The villain ended up walking away in the final scene of the film, and due to the events of Days of Future Past, there’s a considerable chance that he might return. Marvel will once again hold the reigns of X-Men, and releasing a movie about this villain might be the best thing they could do starting off. After they finish this phase of the MCU, of course.
9. Norman Osborn
We have certainly seen this character in several versions of Spider-Man movies. Willem Dafoe was there for the first Spider-Man as the Green Goblin, and he was there in spirit for the sequels. In Amazing Spider-Man, Osborn died, and his son turned into the first Green Goblin in that world, but if we forget about the villain in a costume, Norman is a villain all by himself, so he could be part of a great plot.
10. Doctor Doom
This is definitely a villain that needs to be redeemed in another film. Fox messed him horribly in Fantastic Four and even worse in the 2015 reboot. They had initially planned a movie about him before the deal with Disney, as they also hired Noah Hawley, the writer of Legion, to make the script. Therefore, this movie needs to happen soon.
What did you think of our picks for the villains that need to have a solo film? Who else would you want to see on the big screen? There are many, but it will be hard to have the same success as Venom. If you liked this article, share it with your friends, and remember, we don’t bite. See you next time!
