Officially unemployed, Princess Eugenie's net worth reaches millions

Back in October 2018, we saw Princess Eugenie, the youngest girl of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, walk down the aisle to longtime boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, in the second royal wedding of the year. Their special day was similar to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials, but many people do not know much about this princess, so let’s find out more about her.

1. Her name

Most people have no idea how to pronounce her name, although it is not particularly hard. Some of her friends have even referred to her as “You-junny” or “You-jenny”, but the real pronunciation of her name is “Yoo-jenny”.

In an interview with The Telegraph, she talked about clearing all doubts regarding her given name, explaining, “Whenever we used to meet foreign people who were struggling with it, my mum and I would help them by saying, 'It's like 'use your knees.''"

2. The third youngest grandchild

She is the cousin of Princes William and Harry, but as the youngest daughter of the Duke of York, she is also the Queen’s third youngest grandchild. Prince Andrew is Queen Elizabeth II’s third child out of the four she had with her husband, Prince Philip.

3. Her husband is distantly related to her

You might be surprised to learn that Eugenie and Jack are third cousins once removed as they are descendants of Thomas William Coke, a 19th-century nobleman and the 2nd Earl of Leicester. Before you start cringing, these two are not the only related people in the royal family.

In fact, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philips are also third cousins. While Elizabeth II is related to Queen Victoria on her father’s side, Philip is related to the late monarch Victoria, on his mother’s side. It’s not uncommon to find these connections among aristocrats.

4. She attended the same school at the Duchess of Cambridge

As the grandchild of the Queen, you can probably imagine that she attended all kinds of prestigious schools. She went to a private prep school called Upton House in Windsor and then Malborough College, a boarding that was also the learning place of Kate Middleton and her sister, Pippa.

5. Her succession to the throne

She and her sister, Beatrice, might be princesses, but her chances of ever becoming a queen are scarce. She is currently ninth in line to the throne, after Prince Andrew (seventh) and Beatrice (eighth). A considerable tragedy would have to occur for her to get the seat.

6. She works in art

After graduating from Newcastle University in art history and English literature in 2012, the princess decided to live in New York for two years, working at an online auction house called Paddle8. According to an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she has always loved art.

"I knew I definitely wouldn't be a painter, but I knew this was the industry for me. I love being able to share my passion for art with people."

7. She is not a “working royal”

She definitely belongs in the royal family but does not have to serve the same duties that Harry and William do in the name of their grandmother. Eugenie and Beatrice attend many events, but they do not get anything from the Sovereign Grant and have regular jobs.

8. A net worth of $4.6 million

In 1994, the Queen Mother created a trust fund with most of her money, which was worth around $25.2 million. Princes William and Harry got to keep most of the funds, but the other great-grandchildren were entitled to some of it.

She also received money from her parents’ separation. Eugenie’s mother, Sarah, got about $3.9 million from the royal family, and she placed $1.8 million in a trust for her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie. The princess also receives a great salary.

9. Her best friend, Princess Beatrice

Just like many sisters, these two are incredibly close. “We're each other's rocks. We're the only other person in each other's lives who can know exactly what the other one is going through." We love that they have that special bond.

10. Eugenie and Cressida Bonas

According to the BBC, Eugenie introduced Prince Harry to her friend Cressida Bonas, who dated the prince for a while. Furthermore, she is also friends with Chelsy and Ellie Goulding, who have had relationships with Harry.

11. Her scoliosis

As a child, Eugenie suffered from scoliosis and had to have surgery at the age of 12. Titanium rods were inserted in her back, and they are still there today. In fact, you might have noticed her scar which showed prominently while wearing her wedding dress.

12. Her charity work

Just because she is not “a working royal” does not mean that she has not taken an interest in helping others. She actually supports several causes like the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where she underwent back surgery for scoliosis.

In 2012, she worked on redevelopment the hospital. Furthermore, she also supports the Elephant Family, an organization that hopes to save Asian elephants and their lands, the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that brings help to teens with the illness, and several others.

13. A public royal christening

She was christened on December 23, 1990, in Sandringham, United Kingdom, and is the only royal baby whoever had this event publicized. We wonder why the rest was kept hidden while hers was fully broadcasted.

14. Her use of social media

You might have noticed that Meghan Markle closed her social media since her engagement with Prince Harry, so it’s weird that Princess Eugenie joined Instagram in March, and according to British Vogue, she got in trouble for posting a picture of her father in Buckingham Palace.

15. Early workout routine

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the princess said that she wakes up at 6:45 a.m. to get ready for her exercise plan. "I go to the park from 7 to 8. I do circuits, which I love because they're quick: burpees, squat jumps, lunges, the whole lot. It's much better, as I can't run for a long time."

16. She can be temperamental

In 2008, she talked to The Telegraph and stated, “I sort of inherited my dad's short fuse. I am definitely not as polite as Beatrice, I have to say. I tell it as it is. I am shyer at first. Like, at a party I will say to Beatrice as we go in, 'Oh, you go first.' But then, when we're actually in, I am much louder and she is far more polite and solicitous."

What did you think about these facts regarding Princes Eugenie? It’s weird that she has an average life compared to other royals, but it is also refreshing. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who love getting all the royal scoop. See you next time!
