9 Celebrities Who Regret Fouling Their Hands With DC Movies
We've had a surplus of hype around all the successful superhero films that have reached a genuinely unprecedented all-time high where many favorite stars rarely think twice about participating in these movies. The MCU has enjoyed a long-lasting success over the years along with the stars in the superhero genre.
Actors such as Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have certainly seen their careers boosted after being cast in superhero roles, while a few others naturally regret taking up these ventures after working with the competition of the MCU in the past. So, without further ado, let us have a look at these DC actors who are literally kicking themselves.
9. Ryan Reynolds
Ryan starred as the Green Lantern and apparently was not happy at all with the script. He was extremely disappointed with the text and to top that off; the fans truly hated the movie. Thankfully his luck changed when he moved over to Marvel to play the impressive role of Deadpool. We certainly love this guy when it comes to anti-heroes. We definitely love Deadpool instead of the Green Lantern character, and Ryan is awesome!
8. Josh Brolin
We recognize Josh from his roles in Men in Black 2, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Avengers, and Deadpool 2. He also played Jonah Hex, but openly expressed his regret in pursuing this role as he hated it. It has to be disappointing when you're working your best and yet fail miserably. Perhaps this was not the ideal role for Josh and its a pity he detested it, otherwise, he may have performed better, but only Josh will know.
7. Jared Leto
Jared played the wacky Joker in Suicide Squad, but sadly, most fans resented this monotony of the character. Pretty soon after that, the actor admitted that he was unhappy with his role as well. Well, he certainly made for an interesting Joker! We know that this character needs a lot of deep preparation, so perhaps it was too serious or too messed up for Jared to get into when on set. Well, we can't disagree that he is one of a kind.
6. George Clooney
George Clooney’s Batman was undoubtedly not the best we've seen on the big screen. The actor also expressed his outrage for doing a DC movie and said that he kept one of his images in the Batman costume to remind him how bad life can be. Perhaps George was not feeling the role at that point. It's really sad to know that he played an amazing character but only found the negative traits to look back on. We still love you, George!
5. Michael Shannon
When Michael auditioned for the role in Man of Steel, he didn't know anything about the movie or character. When people queried his role as General Zod, he stated, "profoundly unconcerned with the outcome of that fight”. That's a bad sign when you're not even remotely interested in your role. We know Michael as a real bad-ass-kicking actor for the majority of the roles he plays, so it's surprising that he was not interested.
4. Val Kilmer
Val also played the role of Batman, and he was extremely unhappy with each passing day on set. He hated the team's idea of making the film for general audiences instead of those true Batman fans. Kilmer was not such a bad character though, although we totally get where he's coming from when making movies for the fans. As fans, we would assume our opinion counts and that the producers have our best interest in mind.
3. Christopher Reeve
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace was produced on a pretty low budget, and the visual effects were not so great. In one interview, Christopher expressed his regret of starring in the movie, and he even said that he would never reprise this role. We certainly loved seeing Christopher flying around, saving lives. He is definitely missed. There is definitely no other hero like our unforgettable Clark Kent.
2. Halle Berry
Halle's role in Catwoman was absolutely dreadful, and she had also admitted that she regretted acting this movie. To top it off, the film was very poorly received, and the DC fans tried to forget about the disappointing movie shortly after. Well, we certainly won't be seeing her being cattish any time soon. Although there were fans, especially when it came to the amazing storyline.
1. Christian Bale
Although many fans loved his portrayal of Batman, Christian regretted doing this role. He certainly took the part to a whole new level, but could not portray the loneliness and darkness of his character that the film required. He tried his best of course, but sometimes, that does not seem to be good enough, especially when you're competing with former actors. Hey, he was a great superhero though, don't you agree?
