Jeremy Renner breaks his silence in 'Avengers' and he seems a little...upset.

After his last appearance in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War, there was not much information about Clint Barton/Hawkeye except that he negotiated an apparent house arrest with the government just like Scott Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Not seeing him in Avengers: Infinity War was a bummer, but Jeremy Renner finally opened up about his upcoming appearance in Avengers: Endgame.

A hero’s comeback

Fans waited for months and speculated for just as long about the next installment in the MCU, after Captain Marvel, and the trailer for Endgame revealed that Hawkeye is back, but he has taken on the mantle of Ronin, a dark anti-hero who seeks revenge for the death of his family. This seems to evidence that Clint Barton lost his family due to Thanos’ snap.

Several actors of the MCU are very active on social media and talk about their work for Marvel, but someone who was always absent was Jeremy Renner. Yes, he had been sort of teasing his fans about the comeback for the fourth Avengers with several captions like “Starting my week doing, what do you think?" and "Circling the wagons with my good friends @marvel @avengers”.

However, no one knew exactly how involved Hawkeye would be in the next film. Luckily, once the trailer was finally released, everyone was able to note the reappearance of Clint Barton, but not as the spot-on arrow master we have seen before, but as the alter-ego of Ronin. After the official release of this first teaser, the actor took to his Twitter to share it.

He added the caption, “Good to see you all again! Coming in hot!" which does not reveal much about the new role, but fans were excited that Renner is finally involved with Marvel once again. It seems that he was just as excited as the rest of the world, which only raises the hype for the conclusion of the Infinity War saga.

Furthermore, Jeremy also decided to upload something on his Instagram account with the first poster of the movie, which revealed the long-awaited name. He captioned the post with: “Anyone seen the trailer??" Fans immediately flooded the comment section to affirm they had seen the first footage and express their impatience about having to wait until April 26, 2019.

The trailer accumulated almost 300 million views in the first 24 hours, so it’s safe to say that every single fan had seen it a couple of times, at least. However, it’s cool that Renner wanted to be cute with his post. On another note, when it was first revealed that Renner would not appear in Infinity War, fans immediately started theorizing.

People who love this franchise cannot help themselves and start posting the possible reasons why a character is absent from an important event like Infinity War. The film, later, revealed that both Hawkeye and Ant-Man had negotiated a deal with the government and were currently on house arrest. Otherwise, they would have had to flee the country like Captain American and Black Widow.

Both of them were involved in a sort of revolt against the Sokovia Accords in Captain America: Civil War and they had to remain in their houses. We saw Scott Lang spending his days at home during the first scenes of Ant-Man and the Wasp. It would be hard to fight against Thanos from the comfort of your own home.

The most crucial moment of Infinity War happened when Thanos finally obtained the last gem, the Mind Stone, completed the Infinity Gauntlet, and snapped his fingers to achieve the ultimate mission of wiping out half the universe so that the remaining people would have more resources. It was the first time in the MCU that the superheroes had lost a war.

Throughout the movie, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Thor and the rest had been working tirelessly and with all their efforts towards stopping him, and we saw some of them disappear after the decimation. However, we never knew what happened with Clint Barton and Scott Lang, though we find out about the fate of Ant-Man in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Hawkeye, on the other hand, was still a mystery, but it is not surprising that he survived the snap because it just so happens that the original Avengers are the remaining heroes. There are many theories as to how they might reverse the effects of the decimation and most point to Scott Lang, time travel, and the Quantum Realm.

The trailer did not explain much about how Hawkeye will help in this fight but his thirst for revenge will certainly be utilized in the coming battle, but it was almost implied that Ant-Man was an essential member of the team despite not being an original Avenger. We saw Black Widow looking for Clint in Japan, where he was just killing some apparent Yakuza members with a katana, so he has learned new skills that could help the group.

For most fans, the appearance of Ronin indicates that Barton’s whole family disappeared after the decimation, as it was stated early on that one day he would have liked to retire and live with them peacefully. That would definitely drive someone to adopt a new identity and become a deadly assassin. Captain America stated that they lost almost everything they hold dear.

However, they also have a plan in place, so we will have to wait to see how Ronin plays into their strategy to defeat Thanos. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have stated that there’s an interesting tale for Hawkeye and that only excited fans more. It will be refreshing to see the Avengers deal with their greatest foe together for the final movie of Phase Three.

What did you think of Jeremy Renner’s excitement about the movie? Did you enjoy the trailer as much as most fans? It is hard to tell what will happen right now, even though there are many theories out there. Everyone will just have to wait until April. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who will be at the cinemas next year. See you next time!
