A Day In The Life Of Meghan Markle: The Intense Life of A Royal
Before the announcement of her engagement with Prince Harry, Meghan was an actress with a leading role in the TV series ‘Suits’, but she had to give up her career once she decided to join to the royal family. People often wonder what she does with her time nowadays, and the answer is that she has duties to fill as part of this prestigious group of people. Let’s dive into the details.
Her daily life
We have seen the Duchess of Sussex on many formal events since her wedding in May 2018, accompanying her husband, and they even started a world tour. She must be busy, and probably exhausted, these days due to her pregnancy, but just like Kate Middleton, Meghan shows no signs of fatigue and looks perfect every day.
However, she does not have to attend ceremonies or parties all the time. In fact, her routine is continually changing, but she tries to keep herself active to face the rest of her busy schedule. Meghan is a morning person, so she wakes up early to do her errands and more. We have to wonder what kind of things she does that couldn’t be delegated to the staff.
If she learned one thing from being a celebrity is how to look amazing even when your day is full. Just like most royal family members, she has a lot on her plate. Therefore, Markle wakes up at 4:30 a.m. to have some time in solitude to meditate and practice some yoga. Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan ran a popular blog called The Tig about this kind of lifestyle.
It is also safe to assume that her love of yoga stemmed from her mother, Doria Ragland, who has worked as a yoga instructor for many years and passed on this tradition to her daughter. Markle once said that yoga was “in her blood”. At around 5:00 a.m., she starts her work day by responding emails and sending her staff some as well, which is the fastest way she can communicate with the employees.
One important detail that has often been talked about regarding the Duchess is the fact that she does not drink coffee, skipping caffeine. Instead, to wake up in the morning, she puts on a particular playlist which "sets the tone for our day ahead”, and in The Tig, she talked about having songs from artists like the Jackson 5 and Ingrid Michaelson.
Her exercise routine
Aside from her daily round of yoga, there are several ways the former actress uses to keep stamina up and an active daily life. Running is favorite of hers, as it helps maintain her mental capacity. Meghan has been seen jogging around Kensington Palace many times. She cannot do it every day, but at least, once or twice a week, she is spotted.
"I need it as much for my head and to clear my head as for keeping in shape."
It might be a cliché to most people, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day for anyone. However, most people skip it, especially in cultures that delight in a hearty dinner, or people who just prefer to sleep a bit more instead of getting to prepare their food. We expect the Duchess has no such problem with employees around to make her meals.
However, her choice of food is not particularly hard as she usually eats an acai bowl, oatmeal, or sometimes, she will opt for an omelet if she feels the need for a heavier repast on a given morning. It has been reported that Markle and Harry like to keep it healthy, so they might also indulge in avocado toast and gluten-free pancakes. Furthermore, they buy their food at Whole Foods.
The royal activities
As we mentioned earlier, Meghan has to attend many events on behalf of the Queen, and these can include luncheons and even meeting with politicians. She has also started her own projects like working with the Grenfell Tower community kitchen. Kensington Royal recently posted a couple of pictures of the Duchess during an important meeting with the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Her new home
Meghan’s life has changed radically since 2017, and now that her first child is on the way, she and Prince Harry will be moving to the countryside. The couple is currently redecorating an estate in Windsor. The soon-to-be parents are working hard to make everything perfect for the arrival of the royal baby by meeting with experts on furniture and interior design.
Her eating habits
Aside from breakfast, the Duchess has talked about eating healthy, and not depriving herself too much. "Because I work out the way I do, I don't ever want to feel deprived,” she told Best Health. It is all about finding the perfect balance in your life, and clearly, the routine works for Meghan. Furthermore, she enjoys a glass of wine now and then. "Do the things you enjoy within reason."
As part of the royal family, some eating habits might have to change because of the way the Queen dines. No one on the table can start their repast until Elizabeth II has, and they have to eat faster than her because when she is done, everyone has to stop eating. Markle uses meals to avoid jet lag during her travels.
After a long day of work, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex like to catch West End Theater, and even dress down to sneak into the cinemas. "I give myself the luxury of downtime. We are all so incredibly busy and juggling so many things, but I always take an hour to just decompress, watch mindless TV, snuggle with my dogs, and enjoy a glass of wine. That's all part of the investment. It's a balance."
What did you think of the daily life of Meghan Markle? It seems that the Duchess still maintains a normal lifestyle despite her change of status. Her down-to-earth ways really remind people of Princess Diana, so we can understand why Prince Harry fell in love.
