Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Trailer Revealed Some Intriguing Details About Endgame’s Character Arcs And We Can’t Wait
People cannot wait to know more about the plot for ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and the first trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, which is set to premiere after it, recently came out. However, it seems that the U.S. trailer created a mystery that was answered in the International teaser, which was released a few minutes after the first one. Furthermore, several things in them could indicate some details about the coming fight with Thanos.
In the U.S. trailer, Peter Parker is preparing to go to Europe with his classmates, but he decides to leave his Spider-Man costume behind, stating that Europe does not need a friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man. However, he is later seen with it when Nick Fury shows up to enlist him for a mission, and many fans were confused, wondering if the spy brought the suit for Peter.
Before theorists started going crazy, the mystery was answered in the International trailer. Nick Fury is not the one that brought the suit, but rather, Aunt May, who discovered that her nephew was not planning on packing it, so she does it for him. Of course, the suit is different from the one we saw in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, which was destroyed when Thanos snapped his fingers.
Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker, is set to return to our screens in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, which will premiere on April 26, and then in ‘Far From Home’, which will be released on July 5. It’s also directed by Jon Watts and will feature Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Michale Keaton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Samuel L. Jackson and more.
Things have to remain a mystery
While the trailer focused solely on what’s to happen in the Spider-Man film, it also gave a few clues regarding what might occur in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Obviously, it did not give too much away because, right now, that is perhaps the biggest kept secret in Hollywood, along with the ending of ‘Game of Thrones’, but Marvel has to start promoting their movie.
Furthermore, there are a couple of hints we can find in the footage, and taking the previous comments from famous people, we can deduce some crucial things. The most important thing is that ‘Far From Home’ does, indeed, take place after the events of ‘Endgame’, which means that Spider-Man and Nick Fury will be saved from the Decimation unless we find ourselves seeing an alternate timeline.
In 2017, producer Amy Pascal revealed, “What I think we should focus on is this Spider-Man who started in Civil War and then has [Homecoming] and then will be in [Infinity War]. And we are starting now the next one, which will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story.” Another clue given by the trailer is that Peter and Nick did not meet in ‘Endgame’.
Confirmation by Kevin Feige
Fans who did not know about Amy Pascal’s comments, however, started wondering if ‘Far From Home’ was a prequel to ‘Avengers: Endgame’, especially because Marvel would never want to give away their secrets only a few months away from the release of what is bound to be the biggest film of 2019, but luckily, the Marvel boss, Kevin Feige, has answered that query.
While talking to IGN, he revealed, “What is it like to try to go back to a normal life after what happens in this movie [Infinity War]? Not to mention what happens in the next [Avengers] movie. It’s fun to see that, because he can represent, you know, the world as a whole, as they try to move forward. And you can do it in a way that is tonally unique, and tonally different than, certainly, the two Avengers films that people are about to see.”
Therefore, showing Tom Holland and Nick Fury is kind of a spoiler, but no one knows how they are brought back, so it remains a mystery. Furthermore, the Russo brothers are sticking with the idea that while many characters are brought back, it comes at “an incredibly high cost” for others. In a Variety Interview, Anthony Russo said:
“I will say this: There is a real commitment on our end to the stakes. Yes, this is a fantasy world, and yes, remarkable things can happen in a fantasy world, but…” and then Joe Russo finished with: “They come at an incredibly high cost.”
More clues regarding ‘Avengers: Endgame’
One thing that only avid fans who have seen the trailer many times already noticed is the check that Happy had at the beginning. In the ‘Iron Man’ trilogy, Tony Stark named Pepper Potts CEO of Stark Industries, and in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, she was still doing her job. The signature of the check says she is the “Founder and chair of Stark Relief Foundation”.
Therefore, there is a new charity with Tony’s name that is giving away money. That’s something that might be completely new and instated after ‘Endgame’. Another scene that made fans wonder was the moment Peter was looking at his suit, which was made by Tony, and he seems sad. Is it possible that something happened to Mr. Stark?
There is also a scene in the Stark private plane where Happy tells Peter that he is “all alone”, and it’s also a really depressing moment, especially because Happy seems to want to comfort him although we know that he originally did not think much of the kid. It’s almost as if they bonded after going through something tragic.
