Deleted Scenes From Comic Book Movies That Fortunately Didn't See The Light Of Day

Movies go through a lengthy editing process before we get them on the big screen, and people have always loved watching the deleted scenes when the DVD or BluRay comes out. However, several scenes don’t even make it because they are too scary or disturbing for audiences.

This happens even in comic book-based films because the printed works are not all family friendly. Moreover, some scenes end up being removed from the final cut because they would have tragically changed the story. Let’s take a look at some exciting ones!

1. Pearl, the Fat Vampire ate kids on ‘Blade’

You might remember the huge vampire from ‘Blade’ who likes to sunbathe with UV light. What many people might not know, however, is that he got that massive by eating kids. There’s even a deleted scene where he is surrounded by the dead bodies of his kills.

It’s actually when Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, enters his cabin. Screenwriter David S. Goyer thought of that feature, stating, “I figured that Pearl was obviously too fat to get out of his bed and that people would have to bring him bodies."

2. The head of Norman Osborn was removed from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

Chris Cooper played the role of Norman Osborn for a short time in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, but he died at some point. Sony wanted to bring him back by using his head placed in a cryogenic tank, and that is why there was a deleted scene showing it.

That would be the perfect way to introduce the Sinister Six film that has been in the works for a long time, and it could have served as the ideal post-credits scene for it just like the MCU has done for years. What a waste!

3. In ‘Suicide Squad’, the Joker was going to kill Harley Quinn

In one of the final scenes of the film, Harley, played by Margot Robbie, falls after the Joker’s helicopter is shot from the sky, which made for a seemingly tragic end to the clown criminal of Gotham. However, that was not the original plan.

The Joker, played by Jared Leto, was supposed to push her out of that helicopter. Unfortunately, even cutting that scene did not help make ‘Suicide Squad’ successful as it has a 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, and they allegedly cut many others with the Joker.

4. A snowblower kills a guy in ‘The Wolverine’

Most fans of X-Men love ‘The Wolverine’, and it had just the right amount of violence without pushing the boundaries. However, there is a deleted scene where a random bad guy gets caught in a snowblower, and the blood flies all over.

5. Loki was supposed to appear in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

In the scene where Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, goes to the oracular pool, he was supposed to have a vision of Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, pretending to be Odin in Asgard. While it would not have been a problem to add it in ‘Age of Ultron’, it was definitely a spoiler of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.

If Thor had known that Odin was not real, then we would have missed the funny moment where Anthony Hopkins enjoys a play about the “death” of Loki as he lounges and eats grapes. We are glad it was cut then.

6. A romance between Wolverine and Storm

There was a small scene in ‘X-men: Days of Future Past’ where Storm, played by Halle Berry, and Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, had an intimate conversation when they discovered that events were going to change.

This would mean that their secret affair was not going to happen, and so, they had to say goodbye to one another with a heated embrace and a kiss. It would have been awesome to see such a moment as adding a bit of romance in these kinds of movies can be interesting.

7. Natasha Romanoff flirted with Tony in ‘Iron Man 2’

Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, had a role in ‘Iron Man 2’, and there were many moments where she scoffed at Tony’s flirtatious remarks. However, in a deleted scene, they toyed with the idea of Natasha flirting back. It’s fortunate that it was cut because she has something going with adorable Bruce, played by Mark Ruffalo.

8. Michael Keaton had a “bat trance” in ‘Batman’

Actor Michael Keaton played the iconic role in the Tim Burton version of Batman, and he actually had an idea that the director loved, so they shot it. It consisted of Batman going into a “bat trance” when he was transforming from Bruce Wayne to Batman.

It would have indicated that both people were not the same being, though. Furthermore, others thought that the scene was too ridiculous and would have changed too much of the original canon, almost delving into campy.

9. Peter gets consoled by his father in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield, loses his girl in the movie, and his father steps up to give him a pep talk. Moreover, the conversation would go into the “With great power…” speech that any Spider-Man fan can recite from memory.

However, including Richard Parker in the film would have been too much for an already complicated movie with many stories to follow. Sony wanted to create a big universe starting with these motion pictures, but that was going too far.

10. Quicksilver almost made it alive in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Joss Whedon planned to have Quicksilver, played Aaron Taylor Johnson, rejoin the Avengers, explaining that he had cured himself because of his speed. However, his death was better for ‘Age of Ultron’ because he redeemed himself after his bad deeds.

11. Al Simmons almost burned in ‘Spawn’

In the extended director’s cut of ‘Spawn’, Al Simmons, played by Michael Jai White, was seen roasting to his death for an uncomfortably long time. This film was already violent, but that would have been too brutal for words. Also, the theatrical release was rated PG-13, so they had to cut that part.

12. Griffin was decimated in ‘Judge Dredd’

Judge Griffin, played by Jürgen Prochnow, was killed by a robot that tore his body apart. Luckily, we did not see it, but in a deleted scene, we can actually witness more than that as his limbs are taken from his body.

The film was already rated R, but they had to change it many times because the MPAA ended up rating X because of many scenes, according to screenwriter Steven E. de Souza. Wow, we cannot imagine it any more gruesome.

13. Bane had an origin story in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Bane, played by Tom Hardy, was mysterious because they never really explained his backstory. However, a deleted scene showed that he was so beaten in the Pit by the fellow inmates that he had to wear that mask and armor.

14. The human trafficker from ‘Batman V Superman’ was killed horribly

It’s no secret that most people did not enjoy that film, especially because it was too long. We imagine that any scene they could cut was better in the long run. There was one where the criminal marked by Batman, played by Ben Affleck, was murdered in a prison yard in a grisly manner.

What did you think of these deleted scenes? Should they have been included in the final cut of the films? We think that some could have changed too much of the original movie, so it’s best this way. If you liked this article share it with your friends who enjoy trivia about old motion pictures. See you next time!
