An Unexpected Source May Have Spoiled Tony Stark's 'Endgame' Fate
We are only a few months away from the release of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, but it seems that Marvel is sending subtle hints about Tony’s future after that film. A new commercial for a car brand revealed interesting details that indicate a happy ending, which had to be approved by Marvel itself, so it’s not a mistake. However, the first trailer of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, gave clues to the complete opposite.
Tony’s dire circumstances
As soon as the first trailer for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ dropped, people were despairing about saying goodbye to Tony Stark because the beginning showed him recording a message for Pepper Potts. He seemed defeated, which is unlike Iron Man. However, fans don’t think that Stark is going to die right there at the start of the film.
Some people believe that someone could come forth to save the hero and Nebula at the last minute, and many think it might be Pepper herself with her alter ego Rescue. However, the car company, Audi, whose vehicles have prominently appeared in ‘Iron Man’ movies, might have spoiled several things about ‘Endgame’.
He might not make it
Specifically, they alluded to the possible happy ending of Tony Stark, but as time passes by, the likelihood of that happening does not seem plausible. Before we explain precisely how Audi might have spoiled an essential part of the film, let’s discuss some details that make us believe that Iron Man could die in the movie.
First of all, Robert Downey Jr.’s contract with Marvel expires after ‘Endgame’. This is also the case with Chris Evans, who plays Captain America. The actor has already said goodbye to that part of his life on his social media, but Robert has not revealed much. Many people believe that Steve Rogers could sacrifice himself for the sake of all the others, but Iron Man could easily do the same.
While everyone was affected by the Decimation, this is something that Tony had feared since Loki’s New York invasion with the Chitauri. Those thoughts were exploited by the Scarlet Witch in ‘Age of Ultron’, as she shows him a scene of all his friends dead. Therefore, it’s very likely that Stark could be the one to sacrifice himself.
After all, the Russo brothers insist that while they might recover all the heroes affected by Thanos’ snap, it would come at a great cost. Now, speculation about Tony’s death rose this week with the release of the first trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ with Tom Holland returning as the hero with a spider sense.
‘Far From Home’ trailer
One of the first things revealed by this trailer is that Peter Parker and Nick Fury were both alive. They had been turned to dust after the snap. That could be taken as a huge ‘Endgame’ spoiler, but there’s not much to explain how they were brought, which is the real crux of the matter. Another important detail is the sadness emanating from Peter.
He looked at his suit forlornly and decided not to take it to his trip to Europe, which is weird because he was always eager for a mission from Mr. Stark. Furthermore, at some point, Happy appears with a massive check from a Stark Industry foundation signed by Pepper Potts, instead of Tony. Also, in a scene on a private jet, he tells Peter that he is “all alone”.
Fans have concluded that Tony dies in ‘Endgame’, which makes sense if you really think about Tony’s character. He is the perfect person to close Phase Three of the MCU because he started this franchise. However, nothing is set in stone, and we will have to wait and see what happens. Meanwhile, Audi might have given us a bit of what happens in the upcoming movie, and a ray of hope.
A few months ago, Audi revealed their partnership with Marvel to create a virtual reality experience that would allow people to travel through space on the backseat of the Audi’s e-Tron Vision Gran Turismo. This might still be a concept car, but in a trailer featuring Robert Downey Jr., it was revealed that the vehicle would appear in ‘Endgame’ with Tony Stark at the wheel.
Fans took this to mean that Tony would definitely return to Earth despite his dire circumstances, and if he is driving this amazing Audi, then it might be a happy ending. It’s unrealistic to think that he gets saved, goes to Earth, and goes cruising around happily, though. They have to defeat Thanos, after all. However, one crucial question that the trailer raised was: who would rescue him?
This is another aspect that Audi might have spoiled because their VR game is called ‘Marvel's Avengers: Rocket's Rescue Run’, and features players getting into the back seat to embark on a mission just like Rocket Raccoon. Of course, the game does not say who Rocket is rescuing, but it does not seem like a coincidence.
Additionally, Sean O’Kane from The Verge got an early glimpse of the game, and talked about his experience: “Iron Man needs help. He's being chased through outer space by some of Thanos' baddies, so Rocket Raccoon and I rush to his aid. We make a few jumps using the Universal Neural Teleportation Network, and a few rollicking minutes later, I've helped blast the enemies to bits. Rocket sets off a few fireworks to celebrate. After that, I take off the virtual reality headset, hand over the controller, and step out of the car."
It’s also a bit difficult to believe that Marvel just let this spoiler get revealed. They might have planned to release this part, hoping to entice the fans, although no one needs encouragement to go see the upcoming film. However, it might just be a huge assumption, and the game could have nothing to do with the plot of ‘Endgame’ at all.
Rocket could save them if he has some sort of communication with The Benatar, and getting to see Iron Man back in one of his Audis is going to be excellent; it would be the perfect closure for the Thanos saga that Marvel has been building for a decade, as it comes to a full circle. We’ll have to keep waiting for more trailers, teasers, and maybe ‘Captain Marvel’ will have more details for us.
