Celebrities Who Were In The Same Sex Relationships But Fans Never Thought It's Possible

Matters of the heart and attraction have always been complicated subjects, especially when it comes to sexual identity. Some people are built only one way, while others believe that sexuality is fluid. Luckily, this era has become much more tolerant than years ago. Some celebrities have decided not to stick to labels, choosing to try everything if they feel like. Here are many stars that have been in gay relationships, although they seem straight.

1. DEMI LOVATO

While Lovato has never admitted to anything, ‘Orange Is The New Black’ actress Ruby Rose, said that she had an intimate encounter with her. "I'm like the one person Demi has slept with that didn't sell naked photos of her, so eff off." Demi likes to keep certain things about her life private. She said, “By the way, love is fluid … Humans are humans, and when you connect with somebody on a spiritual level it doesn't matter."

2. PINK

Pink is married to motocross idol Carey Hart, but years ago, she dated actress Kristanna Loken.  "She kissed me and she tried to dominate me and I will not be dominated by anyone." However, the singer does not believe she is bisexual. "I feel like people are just less inclined to be labeled now, which I really like. That's where I was always coming from. Just leave it alone. I just wanna live my life.”

3. TOM HARDY

In 2010, the actor said that he has been with men. "I've played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality, but now that I'm in my thirties, it doesn't do it for me. I'm done experimenting but there's plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life." However, Hardy will not always be so open about his sexuality. He shut down reporters who asked him about this in 2015.

4. BELLA HADID

This Victoria’s Secret angel might be dating The Weeknd, but The Sun reported that she had something going on with fellow model Stella Maxwell. An unnamed source saw them at the Love Magazine party in 2015 and said, “They were kissing passionately and looked to be really into it and having a lot of fun. Bella wasn't the star that she is now. She's likely to be far more discreet now."

5. CAMERON DIAZ

In 2014, the actress said, “All women have been sexually attracted to another woman at some point." She also told Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ that she had dabbled in intimate stuff with “a lady”, although Cameron refused to say names. However, she cleared up that it was not with Drew Barrymore, her fellow Charlie’s Angel.

6. JOHN MAYER

While it was not a relationship, Mayer admitted to having something with blogger Perez Hilton while he was dating Jessica Simpson in 2006. "The only man I've kissed is Perez Hilton. It was New Year's Eve and I decided to go out and destroy myself … I remember seeing Perez Hilton flitting about this club and acting as though he had just invented homosexuality.”

“All of a sudden I thought, I can outgay this guy right now. I grabbed him and gave him the dirtiest, tongue-iest kiss I have ever put on anybody … I'm a little ashamed. I think it lasted about half a minute. I really think it went on too long." Of course, Hilton said that the singer was bisexual and liked watching gay adult films.

7. ANNE HECHE

Heche dated Ellen DeGeneres in the 90s right after the sitcom actress came out. Their separation was due to the struggles of celebrity life. Ellen said, “I didn't want to hold hands. I had never done that in public. And yet there was this attitude of, you know, 'You're going to be on the cover of Time magazine and say you're gay but you're not going to hold hands?'” Years later, Heche said that Ellen was her last same-sex relationship.

8. MICK JAGGER

Jagger was a known playboy, and David Bowie was bisexual. When they met in 1973, they became close friends instantly, and Bowie’s ex-wife Angie Barnett admitted that she found both musicians in bed together. Backup singer Ava Cherry wrote about that in a book about Mick titled ‘Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger’, where she revealed Jagger and Bowie’s sensual relationship.

9. MARILYN MONROE

While everyone knows Monroe’s husbands Arthur Miller and Joe DiMaggio, as well as her alleged affairs with John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, and Marlon Brando, it seems that she also dabbled with women. She apparently had a one-night stand with Joan Crawford, which resulted in their feud, but Marilyn has also been linked to Barbara Stanwyck, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marlene Dietrich.

10. SELENA GOMEZ

Her relationship with Justin Bieber was troublesome, but during one of their breakups, she allegedly had an intimated encounter with Cara Delevingne. She revealed, "Honestly, I loved it. I didn't mind it. Especially because they weren't talking about other people in my life for once, which was wonderful. Honestly, though, [Delevingne is] incredible and very open and she just makes me open.”

11. GAVIN ROSSDALE

Rossdale was married to Gwen Stefani for years, but in the 80s, he apparently strayed towards the same-sex and had a fling with a cross-dresser named Marilyn, who was born Peter Robinson. He admitted to it in 2010, "I've never wanted to appear closed about it, it's not something I've talked about really because it's always been in the glare of a tabloid world, it's just one of those things — move on."

12. DREW BARRYMORE

Barrymore has been married several times and dated many men, but in between them, she had something with Jane Pratt, the magazine editor, after Drew appeared on the cover in 1997. In 2007, Pratt revealed to Howard Stern, “One of my dreams is to return to Howard's show and tell him the truth about Drew Barrymore and me … It was someone famous. I did have s*x with Drew Barrymore." She might not have been the only one.

13. MADONNA

Model Jenny Shimizu was infamous for saying she had intimate relations with Angelina Jolie, and she wrote in her memoir about hooking up with Madonna for only night. The model went on to say that Madonna dabbled in lesbianism plenty of times, although she was openly dating men. Apparently, actress Sandra Bernhard and sociality Ingrid Casares also had something with the Queen of Pop.

14. RICHARD PRYOR

In his 1995 autobiography, Pryor wrote about his affair with a transgender man. "I never kept him a secret. My best friend, for instance, knew I was f**king a dude, and a drop-dead gorgeous one at that. I even admitted doing something different was exciting. But after two weeks of being gay, enough was enough and I went back to life as a h***y heterosexual." Quincy Jones then claimed that Pryor had something with Marlon Brando.

15. CARMEN ELECTRA

After separating from Dave Navarro, she allegedly dated Joan Jett who she had met the year before on the set of a music video. Carmen told The Sun, “I've had a little girl crush on Joan Jett since I was eight. Remember that video where she comes out with a trench coat on and she opens up the trench coat and she's wearing a bikini and then she's rocking out with a guitar? She's hot." They remained good friends after that.

16. KIM ZOLCIAK

The reality star denied rumors about her former relationship with DJ Tracy Young, but in 2010, she admitted it. "I don't believe love has a gender…I don't want to define gay, bisexual or straight. I just think it's too much for me — a woman doesn't define me, nor does a man. There were sparks, but [physically] it was a gradual situation. Tracy made the first move. Our first kiss was passionate and exciting." Their relationship ended because Kim was cheating with Big Poppa.

17. Hugh Hefner

Although he was known for liking blonde with big bosoms, Hefner reportedly had something with at least one man. In the book ‘Mr. Playboy: Hugh Hefner and the American Dream’, Steve Watts revealed: "One evening in downtown Chicago he was propositioned and, according to [Hefner's friend Eldon] Sellers, he 'thought, what the hell. Found it an interesting experience.'" Carrie Leigh also revealed that she would walk in on her husband with other men during their relationship.

18. MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ

While the actress does not like to talk about her private life, she has been seen with many lovers. She dated Cara Delevingene, who is 14 years younger than her. But, she also dated Zac Efron after that. , "I have absolutely nothing consistent in my life. But that's where serendipity comes in and I love that … I've got lots of really great friends, but the thought of being in a long-lasting relationship? Psh, I couldn't last more than six months with somebody."

19. WHITNEY HOUSTON

Her marriage to Bobby Brown was a huge scandal, but the singer had an alleged secret relationship with her assistant, Robyn Crawford. Apparently, her life got worse because her family did not accept their love. According to a former bodyguard in the 2017 documentary ‘Whitney: Can I Be Me’, "Bobby Brown and Robyn Crawford together was the equivalent of fire and water, petrol and a short fuse. They would battle for her affection."

20. LINDSAY LOHAN

Her relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson was public knowledge, but the actress has never admitted to being bisexual or gay. "I know I'm straight. I have made out with girls before, and I had a relationship with a girl. But I think I needed to experience that and I think I was looking for something different." However, she has also been linked to the Yahoo heiress Courtenay Semel, whom she started seeing while dating Ronson.

21. LEE PACE

Lee Pace is a “member of the queer community", as he said in an interview with W Magazine, and after being asked about playing gay roles, the actor said, “I've dated men. I've dated women. I don't know why anyone would care. I'm an actor and I play roles. To be honest, I don't know what to say — I find your question intrusive." He took to Twitter shortly after to clarify that he is proud of who he is but likes to keep his personal life private.

22. SARA RAMIREZ

Sara Ramirez came out as bisexual during her stint on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, and since then, she has spoken out about the struggles people go through. The actress uses her fame to empower other minorities, and in People’s “Coming Out Stories”, she said, “Sense of relief … It's been a form of liberation for me to own all of my identities so that I no longer feel the need to hold back or hide any parts of myself when I walk through any threshold in life."

23. CLIVE DAVIS

In his 2013 autobiography, Davis revealed that he is bisexual, and his first encounter with a man was during the Studio 54 era in the 70s. He dated one man in the 90s for a long time after breaking up with his second wife in the 80s. "It didn't affect either of my marriages, but when my second marriage ended I opened myself up to the possibility that I could have a relationship with a man as well as the two that I had with a woman.”

24. MARLON BRANDO AND JAMES DEAN

There were many rumors that Brando had affairs with women and men, but in 2018, Quincy Jones openly talked about his dalliances. “"[Marlon] Brando used to go cha-cha dancing with us. He could dance his a** off. He was the most charming motherf**ker you ever met. He'd f**k anything. Anything! He'd f**k a mailbox. James Baldwin. Richard Pryor. Marvin Gaye." The Brando family was extremely angry about those comments.

In ‘James Dean: Tomorrow Never Comes’, composer Alec Wilder said that the actor had something with James Dean, “They were definitely a couple. Of course, the words 'sexual fidelity' would be unknown in each of their vocabularies. Jimmy and I used to sit and talk for hours in my room at the Algonquin Hotel [in New York]. He kept me abreast of the affair. I really believe that Jimmy fell in love with Brando.”

25. KRISTEN STEWART

The actress dated her ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert Pattinson, and director Rupert Sanders, who was married at the time. After that, she started dating women such as including producer Alicia Cargile, singers Soko and St. Vincent, and model Stella Maxwell. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she said, “I've been deeply in love with everyone I've dated …I've always really embraced a duality and really, truly, believed in it and never felt confused or struggling.”

26. MILEY CYRUS

The actress is now married to Liam Hemsworth, whom she dated for years, but she was linked to model Stella Maxwell in 2015. "We met through mutual friends via Instagram, which is where Cheyne contacted me about taking some photos. It's been a trip to hang out and see a little of their world. Felt very organic and right." Miley admits to being pansexual.

27. EVAN RACHEL WOOD

In 2011, the actress told Esquire, "I'm up for anything — meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl … [In relationships] I'm more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls. I'm the dominant one. I'm opening the doors, I'm buying dinner. Yeah, I'm romantic." She came out as bisexual in 2012 on Twitter: "I myself am bisexual and have always 'joked' about Miley [Cyrus] giving me gay vibes. Not a bad thing! Just an observation."

28. AMBER HEARD

Before her relationship with Johnny Depp, Sean Penn and Elon Musk, the actress dated Tasya Van Ree from 2008 to 2012. She alleged changed her last name to Van Ree during that time. During her divorce from Depp, the lawyers brought up an incident where Heard got accused of domestic violence against Tasya, but Van Ree said it was an argument that got blown out of proportion.

29. AUBREY PLAZA

The actress has been open about her bisexuality. "I know I have an androgynous thing going on, and there's something masculine about my energy. Girls are into me — that's no secret. Hey, I'm into them too. I fall in love with girls and guys. I can't help it,” she told The Advocate. Plaza grew up with gay family members, so she never thought anything of it.

30. PARIS JACKSON

Paris dated model Cara Delevingne and went on double dates with Macaulay Culkin and his girlfriend, Brenda Song. They have been seen kissing and cuddling, after meeting at the MTV ‘Movie and TV Awards’ in 2017. However, they do not have time for a serious relationship due to Cara’s busy schedule.

31. SARAH PAULSON

Paulson started dating Holland Taylor a while ago, but she does not like labels or discussing her sexuality. She told The New York Times, "My choices in romantic partners have not been conventional, and therefore the idea that it is 'other' makes it compelling. […]. What I can say absolutely is that I am in love, and that person happens to be Holland Taylor."

32. AZEALIA BANKS

Banks has had many scandals, but she has been open about being bisexual, although she has only been linked to men such as actor Jesse Bradford and Coldplay manager Dave Holmes. However, during her Twitter feuds, it was revealed that she had something with rapper Angel Haze. Haze released a diss track, and intimate text messages Banks sent her.

33. IRELAND BALDWIN

Baldwin dated the surfer Slater Trout, but after breaking up in 2014, she started seeing Angel Haze. She revealed that people would call them best friends, but that it wasn’t the correct term for people who have intimate relations. In 2015, they broke up and Ireland went to rehabilitation for “emotional trauma.”

34. CHARLIZE THERON

Publicly, she has only been linked to men like Stuart Townsend and Sean Penn. In an interview with Andy Cohen, the actress revealed that she had been with a woman. "I mean, it's just so strange when we talk so much about it. It should be normalized by now. When I was young, yes. I feel like when you're young, you're just kind of exploring it all, but it was pretty clear that I really liked dudes."

35. KATY PERRY

The singer reached stardom with her hit ‘I Kissed A Girl’ in 2008, but never talked much about it. She dated many men since such as Travis McCoy, Russell Brand, John Mayer, Diplo, and Orlando Bloom. However, in 2017, she talked about it more: “For instance, 'I kissed a girl and I liked it.' Truth be told, I did more than that. But how was I going to reconcile that with a gospel singing girl raised in youth groups that were pro-conversion camps?"

"What I did know was I was curious and even then I knew sexuality wasn't as black and white as this dress. And honestly, I haven't always gotten it right, but in 2008 when that song came out I knew that I started a conversation and a lot of the world seemed curious enough to sing along, too."

36. Chrissy Teigen

In ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen, the host asked the model if she had "swum in the lady pond", and the hostess of ‘Lip Sync Battle’ said: "Oh! Maybe doggy-paddled? Not full-on swam." She has two kids with singer John Legend.
