Why The Snap Has No Chance To Be Reversed In Avengers Endgame (Marvel Theory)

The end of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ surprised everyone as it was the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the main villain carried out his evil plans successfully. Thanos managed to obtain the Infinity Stones and snap his fingers to wipe out half of the universe. This event is now known as the Decimation, and fans assume that it will be reversed in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. However, that is not necessarily the case.

THE COUNTER THEORY

Every Marvel fan is assuming that the snap will be reversed or altered in some way, and this notion has led to many theories regarding how the remaining Avengers will do it. Some say it will be through time travel, and the superheroes will get the Infinity Stones before Thanos ever did. This way, they will either prevent the snap or try to get half the universe back.

However, there is a new theory out there which states that the Mad Titan did not “erase” the people that turned to dust from existence. Instead, these living beings went into an alternate universe where everyone is happy just like he planned all along. The theory also says that the current universe with Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow and the rest will get left behind.

Meaning that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue in the happy universe where Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and more are. This would explain why the relatively new heroes turned to dust while the original Avengers survived the Decimation. Additionally, Spider-Man will definitely be back as his new movie is expected shortly after ‘Endgame’.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill will be in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ as well. ‘Black Panther’ is getting a sequel soon, and Falcon and Bucky Barnes are in the running to take on the mantle of Captain America after Chris Evans’s departure. Robert Downey Jr. is also expected to leave after ‘Endgame’, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

Thor and Hulk have already had a great run in the MCU, and it might be time to say goodbye to them to open doors for the new heroes. If the Decimation were reversed there would be too many characters contending for the spotlight, and even studios as powerful as Disney and Marvel can only release so many movies in a year.

IT COULD WORK FOR THE FRANCHISE

They would have to kill off several characters quickly or explain why many of them decided to retire after ‘Endgame’. If this is true, the plot of the upcoming film could go two ways. On one hand, the remaining heroes could sacrifice their universe for the other, which would make it the central timeline of the MCU.

The other option is that the remaining heroes defeat Thanos and make sure that the Infinity Stones cannot be used for that purpose ever again. Either way, the universes will still be apart. The franchise has already given several indications that some characters are willing to go through the sacrifice route. Many fans think that Tony Stark or Captain America will die in ‘Endgame’ to bring the dusted people back.

However, it might be in a specific way. Tony could be working to save Peter Parker, who has become like a son to him. Rocket Raccoon definitely wants to see Groot again, and Steve will save Bucky and Sam Wilson. Okoye and M’Baku will work tirelessly to bring T’Challa back, while Clint Barton will not rest until his family returns.

Regarding Black Widow, well, she might finally be able to wipe out all the red of her ledger, but Natasha will definitely survive somehow because an origin movie is in the works. However, these outcomes and the idea of two universes seem a bit confusing for the MCU. Those that are not familiar with the comic books might not understand it at all.

MULTIVERSE

Marvel loves the idea of multiverses, which is like a collection of multiple realities where new superheroes or other versions of the current superheroes live. The idea is that the Quantum Realm connects all these different worlds. It could also connect with another movie franchise such as the DC universe, and if the companies can reach an agreement, a super crossover event could happen in the future.

If current comic books movies go as far as they can and there are no new stories to attract attention, a possible meeting of the Avengers and the Justice League will blow people’s minds. Back to the theory, the Quantum Realm could also explain why Captain Marvel and Ant-Man will continue in the MCU if this notion is correct.

Ant-Man can use Hank Pym’s tunnel and Captain Marvel has her own amazing powers that allow her to do almost anything. Moreover, the Quantum Realm could be used for the appearance of Deadpool, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. As Fox’s deal with Disney is almost finalized, many fans are looking forward to seeing the characters in the MCU.

It would be weird if they existed in the same universe without ever being mentioned, but they could be part of the new world. Using this method would also provide Marvel with the opportunity to change some characters’ origins. She-Hulk could be the new Hulk, and Bucky or Sam could be Captain America easily. Nova or Beta Ray Bill could be the new Thor, and Rocket Raccoon could be replaced by Cosmo, the Space Dog.

The theory would also give fans closure without having to kill the superheroes that have entertained them for the past ten years. The remaining Avengers could save the day by defeating Thanos and letting the other half of the universe live in their own space while they continue in theirs. It would also mean that Doctor Strange did not lie, saying that he would not give up the Time Stone to save anyone.

He probably knew that he would get it back. However, Doctor Strange might come off as a jerk who did not tell anybody about this outcome. Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange are the only heroes that might know the truth about what happened after ‘Endgame’, and it’s likely that they will keep it a secret from those in the new universe.

Unfortunately, this idea would mean that Loki and Heimdall are truly dead and will not be coming back. Gamora’s situation is different. Although Thanos killed her, he did it for the Soul Stone and that weird exchange makes fans believe that she is in the Soul Stone or maybe even wherever the dusted people are.

MIGHT NOT BE TRUE

Marvel has given no indication that they might be getting ready for a new universe. Of course, that could be because they don't want to spoil anything, but it’s hard to imagine the disappearance of all the people that did not suffer from the Decimation. Thanos did not intend to create another universe as he seemed clear about his plan. If this theory were true, then the Mad Titan lied all along.

Everyone questioned his motives in the first place, wondering why he couldn’t just make more resources, and this would just reinforce those queries. If the Infinity Stones have the power to create another world, then they certainly have the power to make more food and water, eliminating the necessity of the Decimation.

However, this is not the case. The Infinity Stones can manipulate existing matter to their wielder’s desire, but they cannot create. Therefore, another universe is not an option because he would have to use half the resources, matter and other stuff to make it. Neither world would benefit from this, and they would be in the exact same predicament that fueled Thanos’ plan in the first place.

But again, he could have lied about his motives. Let us know if you think this theory is plausible. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who cannot wait for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to see which theory comes true and how. See you next time!
