Fans Have Cracked The Code On GoT's Ending, And Why Kit Harrington Won't Miss The Show One Bit
If you are a 'GoT' fan, we are pretty sure you cannot hold it until April when we will get to enjoy the eighth and last season of 'Games of Thrones' and finally witness who will sit on the Iron Throne. People keep on talking about it, so no wonder why the series has become a popular and beloved one, helping boost HBO's bottom line.
Amidst the anticipation and waiting, fans cannot help but theorize about the ending of this successful TV show. But keep calm because we are about to reveal it in this article, plus some shocking insight regarding actor Kit Harrington's feelings toward 'GoT'. Scroll down and find more!
What we already know
A refreshment is never harmful, and while we wait for the winter, let's remember some essential highlights about the previous season before we get to the good stuff. There are only a few of our favorite characters left in the series, and they have been quite busy.
First, we have Jon Snow, who decided to ultimately bend the knee to Daenerys Targaryen (plus doing some other things with her that we already know). But apart from their intimate moment, the pair resolved to defend the North against the White Walkers, the Night King, and their Army of the Dead.
In the meantime, we have Cersei Lannister, who is now the Queen sitting on the Iron Throne in King's Landing and is also pregnant with Jaime's baby. Although Snow and the Mother of Dragons warned her with some pretty visual proof that the Long Night is coming, Cercei is not willing to give up on the throne.
Cracking the code
With that scenario in mind, everybody is wondering what will happen but GOT fans are convinced they have the answer. Do you want to know it? Don't worry! We got you covered here thanks to some theories based on the breadcrumbs that HBO has been giving us through quick clips, teasers, and interviews.
Firstly, we know that the beginning of season 8 will show Dany and Jon arriving in Winterfell, where winter seems to have already come. It is also believed that Beric and Tormund Dondarrion will appear to inform everyone in the Stark's homeland that the White Walkers are coming because there is no more Wall.
And... Jon Snow?
Even though the Unburnt has two dragons, the Unsullied, the Dothraki, and all Stark's descendants on her side, it is doubtful that she will beat the White Walkers. Perhaps, that is why some set photos depict Jon riding South to ask Cersei Lannister for help. We only hope he keeps his head while doing so!
At least he will keep it until he learns about his true origin. As you must remember, 'The Dragon and the Wolf' episode from season 7, confirmed that Snow is Lyanna Stark, Ned Stark's sister, and Rhaegar Targaryen' son, which means that Jon and Dany are related, so we cannot imagine how complicated things will turn.
Some other fans are also sure that Jon Snow won't die as he will sit on the Iron Throne. Why, you would ask? Everybody thinks he is 'The Prince That Was Promised' or the legendary Azor Ahai reborn, who is the sole hope that could save Westeros from the darkness.
A hero tends to make a lot of sacrifices, so we think that for Jon, these will be his family and his beloved Dany. As for Tyrion Lannister, we are not sure whether he'll remain on the right side of the history. He still loves his sister, and he appeared to be deeply perturbed by Snow and Dany's incestuous relationship, so who knows?
Other relevant figures
On the other hand, we know that many of our beloved characters will die quickly in the six-episode season that won't start until April this year, and Kit Harington, who plays Jon in the TV show, confirmed it during an interview stating:
"They’re going to go, and they’re going to go fast, and I think that the payoff of our characters not being in great peril this year will be that, next year, it’s going to be a bloodbath."
Well, these are not good news for us, the viewers. It is very likely that the tearful goodbye for probably Cersei, Sansa, or even the same Daenerys will be in the epic battle scene that required some shocking 55 days to shoot. Wow! That's a lot of time filming. It must have been very tiring for all actors, which takes us to the next point.
A sought-after goodbye?
When a show is about to end, the cast tends to have mixed feelings. On the one hand, we have the sad feeling of saying farewell to colleagues, crew members, and the characters that became part of their lives. On the other hand, we have the relief feeling of finishing with a show, and for GOT's actors, it was one that lasted eight years.
One that is pleased to be done with 'Game of Thrones' is Kit Harington. Yes! We couldn't believe our eyes either, but there is a fair reason behind his desire. It is not that the curly guy is sick of playing Snow or that he is ungrateful. He explained the cause during an interview with GQ Australia:
"The last season of Thrones seemed to be designed to break us. Everyone was broken at the end. I don’t know if we were crying because we were sad it was ending or if we were crying because it was so f#c%!ng tiring. We were sleep deprived."
Something to be thankful for
He also added: "I remember everyone walking around towards the end going, 'I’ve had enough now. I love this, it’s been the best thing in my life, I’ll miss it one day — but I’m done.'" Well, it is entirely understandable that Kit wants a break, but we are pretty sure he is very thankful for this acting opportunity.
At the end of the day, he owes his rising career in the industry to the show. Before getting the role of Jon Snow on 'Game of Thrones' back in 2011, he was relatively unknown, not having striking works neither on TV nor on the big screen. Now, everyone knows who Kit is.
Moreover, he is among the highest paid TV stars. During season 4, Harington took the whopping $300,000 per episode. For the final season, this amount nearly duplicated, pulling in $500,000. This means he earned $3 million only for the finale, and that big paycheck places Kit's net worth at $12 million. Not bad, right?
Even before the finale is aired, Kit has found some things to do during his newfound free time. He is the voice of Eret in 2019's 'How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World'. Moreover, next time we see him on the boob tube, he won't have his curly locks as he expected to cut them after wrapping up 'GoT's shooting.
Wow! We are still trying to digest all this information, but we will have to wait a couple of months to confirm everything. Moreover, we cannot wait to see what the future holds for our beloved Kit Harington.
