Dark Avengers: 13 Villains That Could Form The Future MCU Evil Squad
The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be one of the most successful in history, but they do not have many extraordinary villains. Loki was loved by fans, and Thanos is the only “bad guy” who had some depth. However, Marvel Comics do have incredible opponents to the superheroes, and the Dark Avengers formed by Norman Osborne (Green Goblin) are some of the best. Let’s take a look at some of these awesome scoundrels.
While Venom is not the evilest guy out there, he is definitely not Spider-Man. The Dark Avengers could definitely use him on their team, especially because he's not afraid of violence or doing what has to be done - no matter what. In ‘Venom’, he actually ate his foes. Unfortunately, Sony and Disney would have to reach another deal for him to be included in the MCU.
12. RED HULK
Red Hulk is one of Bruce’s biggest opponents, and it’s not just because he turns into a similar monster. He is also General Thunderbolt Ross, Hulk’s archenemy. Ross has been on Banner’s tail since the gamma-ray accident, and he would definitely be a great addition to the Dark Avengers. Although he has not turned into the Red Hulk yet in the MCU, there is still time for Ross to turn completely evil.
Another formidable enemy of the Hulk is Abomination, and fans like him because he was able to defeat the green monster with just his strength. He was seen in 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’ with Edward Norton as Bruce Banner. However, he has not appeared since then, most likely due to the problems regarding the recast of the Hulk. However, if Red Skull can return to the MCU, there is a chance for this villain.
Frank Grillo’s Crossbones was actually pretty awesome, and the MCU could have done a lot with him. Unfortunately, they did not take advantage of his potential and killed him at the beginning of ‘Captain America: Civil War’. However, his death served to develop the plot of the story, which is that the Avengers seem to cause as much damage as good. Fortunately, Grillo was seen shooting a scene for ‘Endgame’. Fans are looking forward to that.
9. ERIK KILLMONGER
Killmonger was brutal, but audiences were able to sympathize with him because the “good guys” had actually wronged him by killing his father. He was a great fighter with the smarts to back up his skills. Michael B. Jordan needs to return to the MCU despite the fact that Killmonger was “killed”. Bringing him as part of Norman Osborne’s villainous group.
8. ARNIM ZOLA
The Dark Avengers cannot have all the brawn without much brains behind their operations. Arnim Zola worked for HYDRA and became immortal by uploading his mind to a computer. He would be an amazing addition to the team of evil people if he is somehow still in the MCU. A missile is not enough to kill a computer.
The character will be introduced into the MCU soon enough, and people are looking forward to Jake Gyllenhaal’s portrayal. He might seem like a good guy in the trailer of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, but it’s safe to say that he is not. Mysterio might think that he is doing something good for the world like Thanos, but Peter Parker will stop him. He would be invaluable to the Dark Avengers.
6. THE VULTURE
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ showed an amazing first opponent for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and he was able to stay underground without detection from the Avengers for a long time. He was also the father of the girl Peter liked which showed a remarkable range in character. He is in prison right now, but Norman Osborne might make him an offer he won’t refuse.
5. THE SENTRY
Sentry is similar to DC’s Superman, arguably the most popular superhero of all time. Sentry can use the power of a thousand exploding suns, but he is insane and does not deal well with authority figures. He almost seems like a bastion for justice, but that is not the case due to his short-sided view of the world. Osborne could manipulate him into joining the Dark Avengers.
In fact, he did it in ‘Dark Reign’, the comic book storyline where Sentry destroyed Asgard. Although Asgard is already destroyed by Hela in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor and Sentry might end up fighting each other which is bound to be an awesome battle sequence.
People who were trained as assassins have a hard time getting out of that, and Ghost is such a person. She needs to have a dose of quantum energy every once in a while to live. That is why she fought against Scott and the others during ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’. Janet Van Dyne seemed to cure her, but she could turn on them again, especially if Norman Osborne steps in.
Fans of superhero films know that no one is dead for long, and Kaecilius, played by Mads Mikkelsen, might return at some points. He was skilled at the mystic arts and could be Doctor Strange’s opponent in the Dark Avengers. He probably wants revenge on Strange for stopping Dormammu from reaching Earth, but he knows that he cannot defeat him alone.

It does not seem like Nebula is a villain anymore - or at least for now. She is teaming with Tony Stark for ‘Endgame’, and she might be an important part of the story. However, what happens after they defeat the Mad Titan is anyone’s guess. She might need a new purpose in life and Norman Osborne could convince her to join his group.
Loki was actually part of the Dark Avengers in the comics but turned on the team when he discovered that Norman Osborne wanted to attack Asgard. Unfortunately, Loki seems to be actually dead this time – although fans are crossing their fingers for his return – and Asgard was destroyed already. However, Norman Osborne could easily have another idea that might call to Loki’s interests if he comes back.
There's a number of characters that could be included in this evil ensemble. Let us know what other villains would be perfect for the Dark Avengers. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who love bad guys more than superheroes. See you next time!
