Meghan Markle's Home Birth Might Cause Some Additional Risks

Prince Harry and Meghan are expecting their first child very soon, and the world is closely watching for any news about the upcoming baby. There is not a lot of information regarding birth, but most people assume that they follow the footsteps of Kate and Prince William. However, now there is a reason to believe that Meghan wants to take her own path and bring the Sussex baby in a different way. Let’s find out the details and reasons!

Any fan of Meghan Markle knows that she was into fitness, yoga, and wellness. Aside from her successful career as an actress, she kept a blog called “The Tig” where she described many things about her life such as travel and dreams but also detailed her exercise routine. Reports have stated that she made Prince Harry adopt healthier eating habits and dieting.

Even after joining the royal family, Meghan has kept active as much as she can and practices yoga, which is personal for her because her mother, Doria Ragland, is a yoga instructor. She and Harry have continued to eat mostly organic foods. Unfortunately, being pregnant has changed things for the former actress.

Every woman needs to rest more because they are literally making a new life. It is even hard sometimes to walk, especially now that Meghan is almost due. Exercising every day might have been a struggle, not to mention keeping up her royal duties with her husband. Thanks to those events, however, the press and fans have gotten a detailed look of Markle’s growing belly in almost every angle possible.

Luckily, Meghan wants to adapt as much of herself into this new child as she can. This means that she has taken holistic approaches to several things such as the baby’s room, which was made out of the best and most organic materials. Allegedly, the walls were painted with a eucalyptus-infused vegan paint so that their child will be able to relax and sleep well.

This will be Meghan Markle’s first child, but Kate Middleton has already given birth to three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. She could give the Duchess of Sussex a lot of advice regarding the subject, especially because they were both regular people that joined the royal family through marriage.

In any case, Kate has learned all about delivery up to recovery as British noble. However, the former actress might do something completely different from Middleton’s experience. While Kate Middleton gave birth to all her children at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, the Duchess of Sussex is actually thinking about having a home birth.

It is not really a crazy idea. Of course, in this day and age, not many people think that giving birth at home is natural because it’s always better to have doctors at your beck and call in case something goes wrong. On the other hand, many royal women, including Queen Elizabeth II, gave birth at their palaces instead of a hospital.

People might still be asking themselves if it’s the safest option nowadays. Most readers would be surprised to learn that home births are really popular in the United States, and the United Kingdom is following the trend. As mentioned, Queen Elizabeth gave birth to her four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward, at Buckingham Palace or at Clarence House.

However, some folks are not convinced with the practice, although it was the norm many years before the invention of anesthesia or C-sections. It might be catching popularity these days, but there is still a lot no one knows about them such as the fact that the risks of something happening are rather small. Sometimes, it is almost safer than having a baby at a clinic.

One benefit of giving birth at home is that the risk of infection significantly decreases. It might sound weird because hospitals are sterilized, but they are also filled with lots of people that come and go every day. They touch everything in their paths, and there are also many sick patients. That is a huge threat for both mother and baby.

Additionally, a home birth could give the mother a more relaxed environment, and she can go through labor comfortably with just the people she loves closely. The wellbeing of a laboring woman always has to be the top priority.

Furthermore, there are only a couple of cases when home births are not advised. It’s better to have a child at the hospital if the woman has a high-risk pregnancy or when she is carrying more than one baby. If Meghan decides to give birth at home and something goes wrong, she can be rushed to the hospital easily. Moreover, even at home, she will probably be surrounded by experts.

Either way, it has been reported that Meghan is studying all the alternatives including hypno-birthing, which was used by Kate Middleton for her births. It involves deep breathing, relaxation, and visualization to decrease the pain of labor. It has also been said that throughout her pregnancy, Meghan has visited an acupuncturist.

“Meghan has been having regular acupuncture sessions to help her unwind and relax. It’s brilliant for the blood circulation and boosting blood flow to the uterus. She plans to use acupuncture right up to her due date.”

Whatever she chooses, it will be for the benefit of her baby. Since she is under such harsh scrutiny from the media and the public right now, a home birth sounds like a great plan. Perhaps, keeping the experience private can help through her first journey into motherhood. Of course, people would wonder when the couple will introduce their baby.

Women who give birth at the Lindo Wing immediately show the child to the public; Kate has done it for all her babies including Prince Louis who will turn 1 soon. But, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not pressured to do so because their kid is not directly in line to the throne. The couple could end up discarding that tradition. They might just move to Frogmore Cottage and start their family peacefully while hiding away.

Luckily, they will have the help of Doria Ragland for the first couple of days. Let us know what you think about home births. If you liked this article, share it with your friends who think that the Sussex baby will be a girl. See you next time!
