Kate and William better tell George the truth about his future before it’s too late

It might come as a surprise to most people, but aside from living in a palace, and being able to call Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth “Gan-Gan”, Prince George isn’t much different than most little boys his age. And apparently, there is a good reason for that. In fact, little George has no idea that he’s a member of the monarchy and will one day become the United Kingdom’s king.

Regardless of the fact, the young prince is able to attend school and play with his classmates - just like all the other six-year-olds. But, these same classmates might get in the way of this once Prince George gets older. Let’s find out how ahead.

THE BASICS FACTS

Young Prince George was born in London, England, on July 22, 2013. He’s the firstborn child of Duchess Catherine of Cambridge and Prince William of Wales. Little George is third in line to the throne, coming after his father Prince William, and his grandfather, Prince Charles. Interestingly enough, it was Prince George’s birth that marked the first time since the reign of Queen Victoria that three generations of direct heirs are alive at the same time.

It might be hard to believe because the entire world knows him as Prince George, but the little prince isn’t aware of his title. No one in the royal family (other than speaking about him in an official manner to the public) or his school calls him by his official royal title. Which means, that as of right now, he has no idea that he’s connected to the royal family.

“As far as we are concerned within our family unit, we are a normal family. I love my children in the same way any father does, and I hope George loves me the same way any son does to their father,” the Duke of Cambridge revealed in a 2016 interview.

“We are very normal in that sense. There’ll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world. But right now, it’s just a case of keeping a secure, stable environment around him and showing as much love as I can as a father,” he added.

IT PUT A LOT OF PRESSURE ON YOUNG PRINCE WILLIAM

Although people might not understand the big deal, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided to do so because of personal experience. Prince William found out about his royal title at a very young age, when he was just a child. Jeremy Paxman often recalled how Princess Diana would often talk about how William didn’t really want to be the king. Talking on Paxman on the Queen's Children, he said:

"We talked about our children and she [Diana] said William often told her that he didn't really want to be king, and then Harry would say 'If you don't want the job I'll have it.'"

Because Prince William was told of his role and responsibility at such a young age, it ended up putting a lot of pressure on him when he just wasn’t ready for it yet. Kate and William are known to be passionate about mental health, so the couple likely wants to avoid situations that could cause their son too much stress whilst he is still just a young boy.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s plan for telling Prince George who he really is isn’t clear. And while a few years have passed since the Duke of Cambridge gave his interview and revealed what Prince George doesn’t know, many assume the young royal still doesn’t know about his fate.

PRINCE GEORGE’S CLASSMATES MIGHT RUIN THE CAMBRIDGE’S PLAN

So, as far Prince George is concerned, he doesn’t have a role in the royal family - which is exactly what his parents are working so hard on keeping a secret from the prince. With that being said, Prince William and Kate Middleton do need to be careful with this knowledge. This is simply due to his surroundings - once his classmates get older and begin to find out and fully understand Prince George’s role, they might reveal the big secret before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are ready to reveal it.

And, it seems like their plan for telling Prince George the facts eventually is up in the air. It’s unclear how the pair are planning on doing so. However, because of their hands-on parenting, we’re sure that Kate and William will know when the time is right to tell their son.

So what does all of this currently mean for the young prince? Well, since he doesn’t have a clue about his royal position, Prince George, just like the rest of his classmates, already has an idea of what he wants to be when he grows up.

Unsurprisingly, Prince George currently has an obsession with cars. The Duke and Duchess’s eldest son has a particular obsession with firetrucks and police cars and is absolutely fascinated with them. In fact, he even asked Santa for a police car for Christmas last year!

Although he hasn’t directly stated that he wants to be a policeman, Prince William has hinted at what he wants to be when he grows up. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited with the Metropolitan Police Excellence Award winners at Kensington Palace in March 2018 and mentioned his son’s passion and obsession.

“We’re only based just down the road in Kensington and I said to him ‘Perhaps Prince George and Princess Charlotte could join the police cadets,’” one of the awardees shared after the event. And, apparently, Prince William replied with “well he [Prince George] does like the police at the moment.”

As far as we're concerned, Kate and William seem to be doing the right thing - just like any other regular kid, Prince George has the right to a normal childhood.
