Daenerys’ Dragons Secretly Had Babies on ‘Game of Thrones According To The Fans
With only two episodes left of HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones", followers are waiting with bated breath to see out how the epic saga will end. And in the meantime, they have got plenty of their own ideas.
One of the theories gaining momentum on Reddit is that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) might have a much better likelihood of defeating Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and her troops than it currently appears. Why?
THERE MIGHT BE A FLEET OF BABY DRAGONS LURKING AROUND WESTEROS
As of the most recent episode, Daenerys was left with just Drogon after Rhaegal was blasted out of the sky and killed by Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) and his fleet, as her forces returned to Dragonstone. Her third dragon, Viserion, was killed and afterward reanimated as an undead dragon by the Night King back in Season seven.
But according to the hypothesis, Drogon — who was prominently missing in action for a large amount of time back in Season five — might be female in reality and might have brought to birth a whole fleet of baby dragons. (Other people have long speculated that GoT dragons are genderless and can all procreate.)
“This theory says that in the fifth Season, when Drogon spends almost a whole season gone, he is actually laying eggs and is, in fact, a female.”
“That is why he was burning fields full of sheep, goats and etc. to feed the baby dragons. He is the only one who disappeared, the only one who drove herds and took them all like roasted sheep,” theorizes u/Justzxcvbnm.
TEASER FOR EPISODE 5 MIGHT JUST HAVE GIVEN A CLUE
It may seem far-fetched, but the teaser for episode 5 does give the hypothesis support. In one scene, Euron can be seen staring up at the sky, eyes wide with horror, as a dragon screeches in the background. Considering he has already seen Daenerys’ dragons and knows there is only one left, he probably would not react as such at the sighting of Drogon again — but what if there were more of them?
A CLUE IN THE INTRO OF EPISODE 4
One supporter backed this theory on Twitter, citing other details that might be clues. The person wrote that at the start of last week's intro, there are three small dragons and a larger dragon pictured in the opening credits. Katherine (@KayDotVega_) tweeted:
"So I replayed the intro of episode 4 cos they always leave hidden messages & look at what we have! 3 small dragons & a larger dragon! Also the comet is flying over the same way when the first dragons were born! Could Drogon have laid eggs in season 5!?! #GameofThrones"
Another user egoalter (@altering_myego) wrote:
"So... hear me out here. Y’all peep that shocked look on Euron’s face after the dragon roar in the preview? He wasn’t scared of two dragons when he aimed the scorpion on ep 4. So why so scared now? Theory: MORE DRAGONS because Viserion or Drogon turned FEMALE. #GameofThrones"
That seems to support the whole Drogon-laying-eggs idea. Others also think there could be a monstrous mega-dragon headed to Westeros and emphasized that actress Emilia Clarke advised followers to watch the upcoming episode on the biggest television possible.
DAENERYS HAS GONE FULL “MAD QUEEN”
That is not the only theory that could be important as we near the series finale. On Sunday night’s episode, “The Last of the Starks,” Daenerys endured not one, but two crushing blows in her hunt for the Iron Throne. In addition to Rhaegal’s death, Missandei of Naath (Nathalie Emmanuel) was seized by Euron — and in the episode’s last minutes, she was executed on Cersei’s orders.
After losing one of her dragon children and her most esteemed ally and confidante, Daenerys snapped. The episode concluded with the Mother of Dragons stepping away from the scene, ready for war — and enthusiasts are taking this to suggest that she has gone full “Mad Queen,” with her most vicious impulses poised to take over.
The show seems to have long been hinting that Daenerys could walk in the footsteps of her dad, Aerys II “The Mad King” Targaryen, and change into the Mad Queen.
As Time points out, thanks to her family’s long records of incest — they have spent over 300 years uniting brothers and sisters in matrimony, to keep their bloodline pure — she could be genetically predisposed to insanity.
A SPECIAL KIND OF ARMOR FOR DROGON
Another theory about why Euron is looking up at the sky in terror is that maybe Gendry, who is actually a pretty masterful blacksmith, is fashioning a special kind of armor for Drogon. "He's totally making dragon armor for Drogon," one fan wrote on Reddit. "It's totally Drogon in dragon armor, and I cannot wait," one Reddit user guessed.
All of these theories are probable, given the wild plot lines the series' creators have cooked up in the past. However, which of the theories do you agree with?
