The Most Famous 'NCIS' Guest Stars Throughout The Show That Many Of Us Are Likely To Have Missed

‘NCIS’ has been on the air for more than 15 years, and a popular show like this is bound to feature a bunch of guest stars to keep things interesting. In fact, they have had many celebrities on special episodes, and some fans might not have even recognized a few. They have shown veteran actors and even fresh faces that gained success much later. Think you know who they are? Let’s find out!

This legendary American actor and comedian is popular for his deadpanned expressions, and his light stammering. Everyone loves him, and he is best known for his shows ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ and ‘Newhart’. Not many people nowadays know that Newhart rose to fame in the 60s with his album ‘The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart’, which became a worldwide bestseller, topping the Billboard pop chart at one point.

However, he might be recognized by the younger generations thanks to ‘The Big Bang Theory’, where he plays the character of Arthur Jeffries, aka Professor Proton. The role even earned him three Primetime Emmy nominations. Furthermore, he guest starred in ‘NCIS’ as Dr. Walter Magnus in Season Eight, Episode Twelve.

He was the medical chief officer before Ducky and appeared on the show to help with one of their cases. Allegedly, the show had a bunch of other actors in mind for the character of Dr. Magnus, but when someone said the name Newhart, the producers wanted him right away. Luckily, Newhart’s wife was an avid admirer of the crime drama, and the actor said yes to the offer.

The original “scream queen” appeared on ‘NCIS’ during Season Nine. She made her acting debut in 1978 with John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ and went on to star in many horror films of the 80s such as ‘The Fog’, ‘Prom Night’, and ‘Terror Train’. However, Curtis started working on television with the series ‘Operation Petticoat’.

She was also recognized for her roles in ‘Freaky Friday’ with Lindsay Lohan and ‘True Lies’. Jamie played the role of Dr. Samantha Ryan on ‘NCIS’, and she appeared in four episodes of the series. The actress was only expected to be in two episodes, but everyone loved her presence so much that they added two more chapters for her.

While Jamie Lee Curtis is a Hollywood legend, some fans of the crime drama would be happy not to see her back. Unlike the showrunners, there are some who did not think she had great chemistry with her love interest, Leroy Gibbs. Additionally, people thought that the fact that Gibbs was with her meant that he could not read others as well as he claimed.

Some people might not remember Abigail Breslin much, but she was a huge child star a few years ago. Her film debut was in M. Night Shyamalan's Signs in 2002 when she was just five years old. The actress gained much for recognition for the film ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, which earned her an Academy Award nomination. She also started as Ryan Reynolds’ daughter in ‘Definitely, Maybe’.

However, even before that, she appeared on ‘NCIS’, in the Season Two premiere episode titled ‘See No Evil’. Her role consisted of a young, blind pianist who got kidnapped, and she later discovered that it was someone she already knew. Greslin is now 23 years old, and ‘NCIS’ was a big part of her successful career as a child.

She has also appeared in ‘Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl’, ‘My Sister’s Keeper’, and ‘Ender’s Game’. Abigail will star soon in ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ and ‘Saturday at the Starlight’.

Tomlin is another legendary actress that guest starred on ‘NCIS’, and aside from acting, she is a writer, singer, producer and comedian. She started as a stand-up comic in the 60s as well as off-Broadway shows. However, she truly rose to fame with the variety special ‘Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In’ which aired from 1969 to 1973.

Younger viewers might recognize her better, however, from the Netflix show ‘Grace and Frankie’, where she plays the role of Frankie Bergstein. She has been nominated for Emmys thanks to that part every year since 2015. In 1985, she appeared with Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda on the movie ‘9 to 5’.

Her appearance on ‘NCIS’ was short but memorable. She played Timothy McGee’s grandmother in Season Nine, Episode Three. Thanks to her, fans got to see a bit more of McGee’s life outside work. Her old friend, Jane Fonda, also appears on ‘Grace and Frankie.’

This 15-year-old actress rose to fame thanks to her role as Eleven “El”/Jane Hopper on the Netflix sci-fi show called ‘Stranger Things’. She even received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series when she was just 13 years old. Brown is one of the youngest actresses to ever be nominated for the accolade.

Additionally, she is the youngest person to appear on Time’s 100 List of most influential people, as well as the youngest person to be named UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Most fans of ‘NCIS’ probably remember her well because her appearance was in 2014, and two years later, Millie became a worldwide star with ‘Stranger Things’.

She was also in 'Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Modern Family’ before landing the gig in the Netflix hit. She was given the role of Rachel Barnes on Season 12 in the episode ‘Parental Guidance Suggested’. Rachel was the daughter of Dr. Valerie Barnes and Navy Seal Ryan Barnes. It was later revealed that the young girl was a psycho who killed her mom.
