Royal Fashion Hacks Which Are Perfect For Everyday Life

Since they’re always in the limelight, women in the royal family always have to look polished, pristine, and well, basically perfect. A difficult task to muster, the royal woman also have to worry about fashion faux pas that can happen to the best of us. And this is why these ladies have a list of their own secret fashion tricks they use for formal events! Here we have a list of 11 royal fashion life hacks that have been used by Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and Princess Diana.

11. Princess Diana used clutch bags to hide her cleavage

This was a move that was pretty obvious and everyone noticed. Princess Diana was notoriously known for using her clutches in order to cover her cleavage while getting out of cars. You might be asking why. Well, the answer is simple: it prevented photographers from taking a revealing picture of the princess. The best part? Her staple handbag, made by designer Anya Hindmarch, famously called them ‘cleavage clutches.’

This is something almost everyone knows by now - we’ll refresh your memory, though. Pantyhose are basically royal protocol for women and you won’t ever catch them going out with bare legs. However, a problem we’re all too familiar with is how feet end up sliding out of heels because of the smooth material. Kate Middleton has an amazing lifehack for this problematic situation, though. Apparently, the Duchess uses silicone pads so they stick to the inside of her high heels. And, if you really wanna know, she’s a big fan of the brand John Lewis.

Reportedly, the late princess had combs inside her hats so they secured her hair, making them stay put.

Yeah, flyaways are simply annoying and they seem impossible to get rid of - especially on those super windy days. You know exactly what we’re talking about. Alas, we can always count on the Royals to find combat a fashion issue. Kate, for example, uses a chic hairnet in order to keep her strands from flying around. She usually wears them after styling her hair in an intricate updo.

7. Royals wear weights on their hems…sometimes

Ah yes, the case of the revealing skirts. Although for us commoners it might not be THAT big of a deal, this specific wardrobe malfunction is a huge no-no for the Royals. An accidental flashing definitely isn’t something they can afford. Their fix? Adding weights to their skirts and dresses. One of Queen Elizabeth’s couturiers, Stewart Parvin, told the Daily Mail that the weights are sewn into the hems of her clothes, preventing them from blowing up in the wind.

Even though it might we news to us, this is apparently a well-kept secret not only within the royal family but the celebrity world as well. According to fashion expert Harriet Davey, going up a shoe size is done very commonly by celebrities. ‘Celebs often go a size up, or even two, in the shoe department when they’re at an event or on the red carpet and it’s for one reason we can all relate to—to avoid blisters,’ she stated in an interview with The Sun.

Another irritating thing women have to deal with: hair ‘dents.’ No matter how short you seem to wear that bun up for, we can never seem to get rid of it. And even though its a speculation, fashion experts are assuming that Markle wears her signature low, messy bun so she can wear her hair down for other events later in the day. Since its a loose updo, it won’t cause those irritating hair ‘dents’ we mentioned earlier, compared to a tighter hairstyle. And, according to Byrdie U.K., ‘a low bun is like a form of damage control. Markle can wear one all day and then quickly unwind it—letting her loose waves fall beyond her shoulders, ready for the evening’s function.’

Although pretty, they’re definitely not comfortable - and for someone who wears them as often as Middleton does, we’re sure she can attest to this fact. That’s why the Duchess is apparently a fan of Alice Bow leather insoles, which add a cushion padding to any shoe.
