Cast of Sister, Sister: Where Are They Now?
Sister, Sister is the hit American TV show starring the twins; Tia and Tamera Mowry. It ran from the 1st of April 1994 until the 23rd of May 1999, and it ended after six seasons. 21 years after the show’s ending, what is the cast of Sister, Sister up to today?
Going on air for six seasons is no joke, and it is incredibly impressive. The cast of Sister, Sister, not only shared the screen with each other but they also shared important moments of their lives together. Not to mention how the viewers at home will fall in love with each and every cast member, and how they were missed once their show went off the air.
Obviously, the two main characters of the show: Tia and Tamera Mowry are sisters, and they will, probably, never lose touch. Their bond was truly beautiful and had viewers truly engaged in every single episode. But what about the other cast members?
It is a given from the name Sister, Sister that the show is about...well, sisters! But the mother, Jackée stole the spotlight from the sisters sometimes. She was also the first and only black woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series!
Jackée would sometimes reunite with her on-screen daughter in several projects like Lifetime’s Christmas movie My Christmas Inn and Netflix’s Family Reunion. Oh, did we mention she is owning Twitter? She is a great icon to follow!
Tim Reid was already known for his roles in The WKRP in Cincinnati and Frank’s Place before he even played Ray, Tamera’s on-screen dad. Tim left his limo business behind, and he has since been a regular on the Christmas TV film scene. He has appeared in seasonal films for Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, and OWN.
Marques Houston spent all six years in all six seasons playing the twins’ annoying neighbor-turned-sometime-love-interest, Roger. Whilst filming Sister, Sister, Marques was also a part of the R&B group, Immature. He was certainly a star that we loved to watch.
He released six studio albums as a solo artist and he continued to act. He appeared in You’ve Got Served and Fat Albert. He has also produced several films for BET. In August 2020, Marques (who was 39 at the time) married Miya Dickey (who was 19 at the time).
In season five, RonReaco Lee was introduced as Tyreke, who was Tia’s boyfriend. He became a regular in the sixth and final season, and after Sister, Sister, he would continue to star on a couple of hit series including Moesha, ER, and Boston Public. RonReaco married Sheana Freeman in 2010, and the couple has two sons, Bryson and Jaxson.
Deon Richmond was previously known for appearing on The Cosby Show. After that, he joined Sister, Sister as a regular in its final season as Tamera’s boyfriend, Jordan. He would, later on, appear in different films like Scream 3, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, and Not Another Teen Movie.
Bianca Lawson was a prominent TV figure in the 90s and early noughties. She was cast in shows like Saved by the Bell: The New Class, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Steve Harvey Show, and Dawson’s Creek. She also was cast as the mean girl in Save the Last Dance.
Even before Sister, Sister, Bianca knew that her career was going for the heights. She was cast as supporting roles in more TV shows like The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, Teen Wolf, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Way to go, Bianca!
BIANCA IS RELATED TO BEYONCE
Also, here is a fun fact for you all. Bianca became Beyoncé and Solange Knowles’ step-sister when her father, Richard Lawson, married their mother, Tina Knowles, back in 2015. The mind is blown, eh? Talk about a small world when it comes to celebs!
Before Gabrielle Union was widely known for her role in Bring It On, she first played the role of Vanessa, Tia and Tamera’s friend in Sister, Sister. Since then, she has been in a bunch of films like Deliver Us from Eva, Bad Boys II, The Perfect Holiday, and so on. She also became a judge on America’s Got Talent for a brief period of time before she left the show.
Gabrielle married the retired NBA star, Dwayne Wade. The couple got hitched in 2014 after almost six years of dating. They have a child daughter together named Kaavia James via surrogate in 2018, and Gabrielle is also a step-mom to Dwayne’s three children from this previous relationship.
Tahj Mowry is, obviously, the twins’ real-life little brother. On the show, he played three characters: Tia’s cousin Tahj and T.J Henderson, he played his character during a crossover episode with a fellow WB sitcom (Smart Guy), and he also played an SAT tutor! Talk about character range, eh?
TAHJ AND NAYA RIVERA
Tahj dated the late star, Naya Rivera, between 2000 and 2004 after they met on the set of Smart Guy. He later dropped a statement and a heartfelt tribute after her death, We grew up together. We became adults together. We experienced so many firsts together. You were my first experience with everything; love, intimacy, heartbreak."
“I will never not think of you. No woman has ever measured up what you gave me or how you made me feel. I've never liked to admit it but I have never stopped loving you."
Brittany Murphy played the role of Sarah, who was a school friend of Tia and Tamera. Brittany was only a guest character, but everyone loved her because...well, she is Brittany Murphy after all. In an interview, Tia Mowry was asked which of her co-stars was her favorite guest star. Can you guess?
To which she answered:
"Unfortunately my favorite, she passed, Brittany Murphy. She was so fun. She played our best friend for several episodes. It never felt like work working with her. And even after the show I would see her and she was always so sweet and so nice. What a beautiful soul."
Another amazing guest star was Sherman Hemsley. He played the role of Campbell, Tia and Tamera’s grandpa in two episodes during the show’s third season. Sherman was more popularly known for his roles on the shows The Jefferson and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Sherman has, unfortunately, died on the 24th of July 2012 due to an illness. The legendary actor will always be remembered for his great roles and humor. He was a quiet soul that managed to make a huge impact in his own ways. What is your fave Sherman film?
Tia Mowry has always been synonymous with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry. They have both starred in Sister, Sister, and in a bunch of Disney Channel Original Movies like Tia & Tamera and Twitches. Both are stars in their own right, and we all saw them grow up!
Although, aside from sharing the screen and starring on a bunch of films with her twin sister, Tia has also found success solo. She has her own Cooking Channel show called Tia Mowry at Home and she was also in BET’s The Game. Plus, she has been a regular cast in the Netflix sitcom Family Reunion since 2019.
MEET TIA'S HUSBAND
Tia met fellow actor Cory Hardrict on the set of their film, Hollywood Horror. In 2008, the couple got married. They now have two children, Cree and Cairo. This goes to show that love in show business can last. We are happy for this beautiful couple.
Just like her twin sister, Tamera has found success and other projects outside of their twin bubble. She starred in the Lifetime Dr. Strong Medicine, and she has also found success as a TV host. After serving as a panelist for The Real, Tamera said that she was leaving the daytime talk show after seven years!
She stated in an interview:
"I'm so proud of what all the ladies and I have accomplished there, including two well-deserved NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy. However, all good things must come to an end, and it's with a bittersweet smile that I announce that I am moving on from The Real."
WHO IS THE MAN IN TAMERA'S LIFE?
Tamera married former baseball player and Fox News correspondent, Adam Housley in 2011. They have two stunning children together, Aden and Ariah. Their family also has its own YouTube Channel called The Housley Life. Talk about love and laughter in one home!
