Watch This Doctor Reunite with Her Dad after 10 Months to Give Him COVID-19 Vaccine

Dr. Anne Hampton shared the "emotional" day of reuniting with her elderly father. They haven't seen each other in 10 months, so she jumped at an opportunity to visit his care home when it arose.

Last week, Dr. Anne Hampton spent a few minutes with her father, Chris, as her medical team visited The Steppes care home in Gloucestershire, England.

Dr. Hampton's son, 18-year-old Billy Arthur, filmed the heartwarming reunion, having documented the team's efforts as they prepared to vaccinate 22 residents at the care home.

A LONG TIME COMING

The Steppes went into lockdown in March 2020, and none of its residents have been able to see their loved ones in person since. Joining the inoculation team gave Dr. Hampton a precious opportunity.

South West News Service reports that 87-year-old Chris moved into The Steppes, an assisted living facility, 18 months ago after being diagnosed with dementia.

A TOUCHING REUNION

Fully geared up in PPE, Dr. Hampton's dad didn't recognize her initially, but the pair shared a few sweet moments as she gave him the novel coronavirus vaccine.

"It's been lovely to see him, just briefly, and start him being protected. I feel hopeful, and I'm also slightly tearful underneath this visor because it's quite an emotional day," Dr. Hampton said.

SOME ARE INSEPARABLE

The novel coronavirus pandemic also brought another touching story of love, albeit a sad one. 75-year-old Sue Shaikh died from the virus on December 29; a few days later, her husband, Basim, 76, also died.

Basim didn't contract the virus, but in May 2020, he got diagnosed with a brain tumor and had been ill for some time. However, following Shaikh's death, Basim knew before anyone told him.

The couple was married for 47 years, and they were inseparable. Their daughter, Caroline, told The Sun that her dad had given up his fight because he knew her mother had died as she said:

“Because my dad was very ill we decided not to tell him straight away that she'd died, but he somehow knew she'd gone."

The virus continues to take its toll on people's lives, including the billionaire Richard Branson, who recently lost his mother, Eve, to the virus after spending all her energy fighting it off.

During an interview ahead of his LauncherOne rocket launch, Branson credited Eve for the abundance he has, having grown the Virgin group to an estimated worth of $6 billion.
